Just thought I would make horse folk in Eaton Bray area and thereabouts another stable break-in and theft I have been made aware of in the last 3 weeks.
Dont think it cant happen to you, take all possible precautions, ensure all your property is marked and have notices up to say so. Dont leave valubles if you can take home. Dont assume you are covered by insurance and try to not let it occur to you. Insurance is not about prevention and many companies will not cover if not in brick building with 5 lever mortice locks on and few with key access. If you have a locked tack store insist it is locked after "every" visit no matter what time of day. Theft doesn't only occur at night, often quiet day times.
Note any strangers about, ask what unknown visitors want question them. Take piccies of unknown vehicles with index number with your camera phone or write it down with description. Let it be known you have noticed them poking about. Fit PIR lighting if possible.
Make your place as difficult as possible.
Remember thieves are opportunist often, dont make it easy for them.
