My dream horse arrived 3 weeks ago and my confidence is almost gone as she is unsettled. Very interested in learning more about IH but no RA's in Jersey. Are there any members out there who can help as want to do 'join up' but am too nervous to attempt it.

Hi Clare and welcome to the DG. It sounds like your mare is just trying to find her feet and work out whether she can trust you to keep her safe. Most horses will be on alert until they get to know you better.
Why not post this on General or Horse Help? They get a lot more traffic and I'm sure you'd get lots of great tips.
FWIW I wouldn't attempt Join Up without someone experienced with this there. Have you got Kelly's Perfect Manners book? That's a great place to start and everything in there will benefit your future relationship as well as being a great help for today.

Thanks for advice. Have bought the book today and just heard on the stable grapevine of a lady in Jersey who practices IH and would probably be willing to come to my stables to give me a few tips. Very excited about this. Will let you know how it goes
Also took my mare Amber on a hack today and we met every possible spooky item on our journey - and she was fantastic. The other horse on the hack really played up and got into a right sweat but Amber stayed calm and was an angel. I was so proud of her and she gave me confidence to take her out again.
