Just to let those of you in the area know that there was an attempted horse theft last night at my friends yard between Burford and Witney on the A40. They were interupted - and left the situation in such a way that 2 horses are dead and several wounded and a driver of a passing car is in hospital with serious injuries.
I don't have any more details but I thought you'd appreciate knowing that the b*stards are operating in our area!

Hi Pam - I don't know whether anyone has been caught - Pauline hasn't said but then she would n't necessarily know.
How come you know the horses - do you ride at Sturt Farm?

Hi - I'm aware of two attempted horse thefts near Charlbury - in the last month or so. Luckily both refused to go altho cuts received, as one jumped out of field when cornered. Its horrible that people are doing this, and such a worry.

Apparantly there have been quite a few horse thefts in this area recently - I don't really understand why it isn't being shouted about on the local media with horse owners being warned. Even if the public/police think it is a relatively unimportant crime compared with mugging old ladies etc, these horses were chased down the road and have resulted in a driver being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition - it sounds as though she is going to be alright but it could easily have been much worse - is it going to take someone being killed as a result before the message is put out and some action taken?
