Tara (mum) and Toby (baby) is from the same batch as Zoreille, who you all know about. I had planned to collect Zoreille originally but when I heard that there was a chance for her to go to the UK I thought that would be much better and came back with another one and baby. The poor baby was so weak we did not think he would survive but now he is a cheeky young lad with presence in abundance. He is still living with his wild mum who (if he was placed within France) would be sure to go straight to a fattening ready for Italy. Just within this area here there is a place where they send 200 horses every week to Italy!!! Mothers and babies get separated all the time and the babies are far too young to be on their own.
Tara has had such a terrible life so far because she came from the Pyrenees where they breed the native Pottock Ponies to heavier breeds such as the Comtoise or Breton. She has the normal chunks out of her ear (they use scissors or a knife) and has had a large piece of wood over one leg so that she hasn't been able to trot (to run away from these cruel meat breeders). The sgns are that one hoof is about a foot longer than the other. When she could trot for the first time she did not stop!!!This has been going on for many many years and it's quite the norm to treat ponies this way!!!! Barbaric!!!
I am looking for a home for them both (I think Tara is also pregnant) because, due to ill health, I cannot manage to get any further with Tara. I have seriously hurt my right arm. I think Tara she may be always wild but she is very happy. Toby has been weaned the natural way and his mum has been a fantastic mother and she is still teaching him different things. She is only about 13.00 h.h. and Toby is going to be a lot bigger and very chunky. He is so handsome. I realise that there are so many English ponies to rescue but please also spare a thought for these two.
Please ONLY enquire if you are really serious, have a super home for them and have plenty of experience. I am asking only what they cost me. Thankyou.....
