Can I ask you guys which transporter you all used to get your French horses back to the UK please?
Looking for names, telephone numbers, website (if they have one) and roughly what the costs where?
Many thanks...

Hi Bertie, I use veronica; www.horsetransport.uk.net/She was great with the horses and did a fab job for me.I organised a full lorry,I dont know if she can work with single horses, but the best thing is for you to contact her and discuss. The cost was £300 back to uk,then the cost from docks to your home depends on where and what routes she can work out.It was £450 back to the midlands, but we had 5 coming here and then some going further north and some dropped en route to us,so it just depends how she can work it. Its a bit tricky with other transportere from what I can gather, many of the horses are already seriously stressed and scared so its not quite as simple as importing an iberian or whatever. Also, you will need to have somebody who can translate in france,is lucy still involved with that? Best wishes. Sarah

Hi Bertie,
I used Woffords and it was £300 plus VAT back to their Wilts base and they actually didn't charge me any extra to drop off as I am only an hour or so away from their base. As far as my experience went with them, they were very good and the horse and donkey looked well after the trip. When they went to pick up the filly she was in a bad way - tied in a metal lorry in the French heat with no water and hardly standing. They got her off and waited with her in the shade for an hour with water and hay til she was strong enough to travel.
The only downside was that they weren't particularly good at keeping me up to date on when they would pick them up and when they would arrive but put it down to the fact that they were rescuing more and then they got stuck at the port due to bad seas.
I do remember reading on the ES forum that other people didn't have such good experiences with them but from my perspective they were great.
Hope this helps - would love to hear if you're thinking of rescuing a horse or two!!
Ems

Second Veronica - they were fantastic from start to finish and excellent with the horses.
I would not recommend any other company.

Hiya - one of the other transporters told me that the Dutch guys coming in are the cheapest and will do it for about £200 - not sure how accurate that is but I would imagine there are quite a few dutch transporters coming to the UK!

I would second emsxx's comments on Woffords. The transport itself seemed fine, although I think the additional journey to Wilts then up here was probably extremely stressful for Zorelle, but the organisation was awful. I think we had the date changed 3 times and all the communication was initiated by us. It certainly could have been better.

Another one to say comms with Wofford's were naff. I think they've gone out of business again anyway haven't they?
