Hi first post guys so be gentle with me lol!
I rescued My girl after desperately wanting to help and although i hadn't saved enough money up at the time, i saw her on the iminant danger list and it was love at first sight, i had to have her! begged stole and borrowed of parents, frinds and boyf to pay for her!
She is the most gentle girl, very trusting and honest, right from the evening she arrived. unfortunately she had a very infected eye (which the farmer wasn't going to do anything about as she was meat at the end of the day), my vet thinks it was like it for some time poor baby, caused her a lot of pain but she still let me put drops in it 5 times a day, and inject her antibiotics with a bloody great needle every day - this was an unhandled 15 month filly she was shockingly well behaved and i reckon she must've known she was safe and i was helping her. Anyway, vet finally found that she had a detached lense and would never regain her sight, the best prognossis was to take the eye out as it was full of ulcers and infetction where she kept bashing it and was causing her alot of discomfort. was an absolute star through all of it and she's starting to develope quite a characther now, she's so much happier without it and although she wont look as pretty to other people now, she is even more beutiful to me! no probs with headcollar, leading is a bit wobbly but getting there and also good as gold having feet picked out (front and backs) although balance aint that great yet lol! great at travelling - lorry to vets, trailor back - like she'd been doing it for years!
she is a bit of a wuss and although bigger than my 2 ponies (13.2 & 14.2) she knows who the boss is and does as she's told lol. she certainly respects her elders!! she has not once shown any aggression to my other girls, me or even my dogs, she comes to me in the field, loves being groomed and really is such a babe i cant believe it somedays at actually after the horrific start in life she had, she is as good as she is.
she's been with me just over 3 weeks now (although at the vets for 6 days where i visited her every evening for some bonding!)
and is so settled, she knows shes home!
I urge anyone who is thinking about rescuing one of the horses from equinsection to please think about the comtois 3! they all have the same sire as my girl and are absolutely stunning. they really deserve the brake like Mercy got and she has paid me back nore than enough in the small time i've had her. i am soooo looking forward to watching her grow into the beasty she'll be and eventually riding/driving her - i know she'll take in her stride anything i throw at her (not literally lol!). i love her to bits and it was the best thing i have ever done!
