Hi, Glad all is well. Grise does mean grey, but Gracie suits her beautifully. Do let us know how you get on. Lucy

aww! lovely! I love donkeys! Sure she will come round soon enough, its good that she is eating her feed already, you are halfway there already! Quick tip re the headcollars,if you are still having trouble in a few days you could try a rope halter,I found my girls prefer them as they dont have buckles so dont go clunk!( you shouldnt leave one on though.)

Gris is French for grey. We rescued 2 from that place and that place doesn't just have one area for the meat horses, ponies and donkeys - they have lots. There are also lots of other places dotted all over France and it is quite the norm for ordinary people to send their own horse they may have owned for years in a meat lorry if (for example) it is sick, has an injury or they are just fed up with it. It's so awful but happens every day as so many people are so greedy and they know they can get at least 500 euros from the meat man. Ponies are bred willy nilly to get killed. They are transported at any stage of pregnancy and with little foals at foot, together with stallions (most people won't pay to have them castrated) and donkeys. Only a very few of the lucky ones get rescued whilst there are hundreds slaughtered every day. It's very big business here with live meat, especially as the Italians pay more. Horses are agricultural but are not treated as well as their cars!!! Please everyone help stop this.
