I have taken the plunge and decided to rescue a donkey from dept 41.She is a tall grey jenny poss in foal and should be here on the weekend.I am so excited!!I havnt told my hubby as he said one more and its divorce(already have 5 ponies and 6 donkeys..)..He was only kidding (I hope) but I am not putting it to the test just yet. I was looking at her though and thinking-shes a girrafe. She seems so tall compared to the rest. Its not the most flattering pic and I wanted her because I thought no one else would want her. Could she be a mule? She seems very tall.I know tall donkeys do exist and I wondered what you thought. If she is she wont be preggers

I really liked the look of her. I have seen one like this before and was told he was a spanish donkey? I'm NO reference where donkeys are concerned may I add! lol

If you mean the very tall donkey in equinesection.com standing in a group of donkeys - I thought that one was an uncastrated male? He has a separate picture on his own as well (No 0042). I might well be wrong, but I couldn't see a very tall one among the females. I'm talking about the ones in a group in dept 41, have not checked for recent updates though further on, if there are more. The females, including the one they think is in foal are much smaller, and so is the young donkey colt. Hope I'm not confusing the issue and please ignore me if I'm wrong....

I have had another look and all the donkeys are numbered . The tall grey one 0042 is described as entire, which I think means stallion/jack donkey.

Hi Emy, My mum and I have rescued the other donkey in the photos!! We'll have to keep in touch and help each other along. I have also rescued a 14 month filly so will have my hands full, what with my pregnant mare too! Looking forward to it though.
Does anyone know when they are arriving?

I am so glad - if she is a mule you will know by the tail - but i believe there is not actually a mule with that group any more.

Hi all, Yes,she has arrived! She is a she and she is a donkey. I had the welfare chap from the donkey sanctuary and a top judge from the donkey breed society in my field the other day (one of our other donkeys won a class in the working donkey competition and got through to the nationals)and the judge feels she is a cross of 2 french breeds and that she is a 2 year old(was meant to be 7....).She is already 12.3hh so I hope she dosnt grow much more. She is very sweet, has a curoius nature and is very intellegant but she is terrified of headcollars so catching her is impossible at the mo.This was embarrasing when the vet came to do her bloods and watched us being totaly outwitted by our new arrival. She was also terrified of feed bowls but she has got over that now,but sudden movements will send her running so its softly softly and I think she will be fine oh and her papers said she was called Grise..which I think may be a colour, but we have called her Gracie
