We have another pony in need of funding. Name of Chunky, 13hh palomino gelding, he was in desperate need of a good home in the Kent area. A home was found, to rehabilitate him and get him trusting again, to do a bit of endurance, but he had an accident in the field. When the vet came and sedated him he checked his teeth and it turns out he is nearer 20 than the 8 shown on his passport. Added to which, the tendons in his hind legs are badly damaged, either by overwork or having to carry too much weight, so he deperately needs a retirement home. The current loaners aready have geriatric paddock ornaments and so can't keep him, but a place is available at my Shropshire sanctuary, and he will be brought here next week. The vets bill came to £300 and the diesel for his taxi will be a sizeable amount, and there is no way we can expect loaners who only gave him a home for a few weeks to foot that kind of bill. So here we come, cap in hand again - these vets bills are a major major drain on our funds. If you can spare just a pound or two, please go via Just Giving www.justgiving.com/sanctuariesuk. This is the general fund, you can put "For Louis" (we changed his name, Chunky really didn't suit him) and the money raised for this particular cause can be extracted at a later date. Thank you to anyone who can spare just that bit - to find that money out of our general income will mean shortages in other things later on, so we rely on your generosity. If you are coming to the Open Day/Max demo you might see him - I will have to see how he responds to lots of people because, although he is improving with the work they are doing, he is very nervous - use and abuse again!

The 13hh palamino gelding above, now renamed Louis, is sadly now looking for a new home. he has been on loan but has proved to be too much for the owners. This pony is happiest living out in a herd environment, he doesn't like being stabled at night and would benefit from a home wher ehe can be out 24/7. he is an ideal companion as he isn't worried about being out grazing but ideally would be in nice in a group of three. He is good to catch and with farrier now and is assessed as 'aged' but that is probably mid-teens. His leg issues are not a problem and he has no other ailments. for enquires to offer a home please contact emw@equinemarketwatch.org.uk
