I don't post very often, but I do read the threads a lot, especially in this section. It has made me feel SO much better about my lack of confidence and in an odd way, less afraid. How weird is that?
Anyway, last week I managed a two-hour hack on my boy where for the first time I didn't tense up once, I didn't clutch at my reins like a baby, I sat up straight. And guess what, horse behaved perfectly! It just shows, riding better makes the horse behave better. And I could walk the next day, instead of being crippled by sore muscles from all that FEAR.
So a huge thank you to everyone who has posted here and made a frightened person less scared, just by sharing your stories. Books and things do help, but real stories are better. Thanks you lot!

A two hour hack with no tensing up, clutching at the reins or anything - wow MaryPlain, I am SERIOUSLY impressed. At the moment I am happy with a 15 minute mini hack. And have to keep reminding myself to breathe properly, have brave hands (ie no snatching back or tensing up of hands in any panicky moments) and not do any foetal crouching...
That is just fantastic that this section is helping you. I think it is brilliant, and it has most definitely helped me too.
Here's to many many more such happy hacks out for you and your horse x

2 hours !! That is seriously impressive. My Tilly always speeds up when we're on our way back and I don't think I could cope with an hour of that !. Well done you.

that is what this DG, and more importantly, this section is ALL about. No pressure, no tests, just to go out and enjoy yourself. Sounds like you did, too!
