After fretting about it yesterday in my rant "Today's Hack", went out the three of us again today, and went to another new destination. All off road hacking, around a lovely lake, in acres of meadowland. It was fab ;D We all took turns to be lead file in canter, so sometimes I cantered in front, sometimes in the middle and sometimes at the back. And sometimes we went quite fast ;D ;D So it was demonstrated to the demon in me that says you have to always be at the front or you're not safe that no, that's not true - Lincoln will be good wherever we are. ;D The new lady and her mare were thrilled to be out with me and Nikki (we're so sensible, you know and said it was more fun when people aren't just whizzing off everywhere without asking all in the ride first. I also suggested that in places where she usually gallops, all we did was a trot, and this helped to settle her mare who was expecting to whizz off all the time. Again we took turns in who was at the front. Anway we were out for about 2.5 hours and had a fab time in the sunshine. Hope you all have/had a nice ride today. We're all three hacking to a local show on Monday just to mill around, so that next time we might be brave enough to go in something.

Wozzer that is brill, Im so glad you enjoyed your hack. I hope it will be the first of many with the new lady and her mare. Good idea to trot in the gallopy places, and perhaps walk sometimes. That way horses never know and dont tend to fizz up, calmer nerves all round Good for you for going in the lead, middle etc. And for going fast ;D ;D Im quite green with envy ;D ;D ;D

That sounds like heaven Wozzer. Well done. Must be great to have found such a level headed yet on-ward bound rider to join you.

It's me Kanga, I'm so bossy. I was saying "right ladies, well we'll take it in turns, etc". Don't know what I'd do if someone said no!
OMG, I can hear myself now. But you know what gang? It works. At my ripe old age many would be taking up knitting, but if you set yourself up with safety in mind (no over-taking, rules established etc), it is more fun and safer for everyone.
Feeling quite pleased with meself. Sat here with a little glass of champers LOL!! ;D

That sounds like heaven, and well done you. A horse that can go at all paces in front, in the middle, and behind, is a rare find, you should be very proud. My lad is the ultimate hack but I can't say I enjoy cantering him behind particularly, though we do it when we have to! And how annoying are the "I have to go in front" people - it's so funny when you get two of them out together! Good for you and your hacking sounds wonderful, and how lovely for you that this lady can show you new routes. And you have a new friend. Very exciting time for you. Well done!
