alfie is a super star and i'm a complete#@~;/~@[]+_. so proud of him, he walked into the stable and just started munching, not worried at all about the horses all saying hi to him. leah has been really pushing him for a strop situation wise, main roads. cantering verges, farms, etc. the only time he found it difficult was when they passed a field of horses that all wanted to say hello at the same time and she said she could see how it might scare me , but she kept her hands soft and pushed him on and he soon got over it and did nothing but snorted like a bull and did his girraffe impression, no leaping about or losing the plot completely.
he got spooked by something yesterday and took a few strides of canter on the road she gave him the reins and he stopped . where as i would have grabbed at the reins and prob fallen forward, encouraging him forward.
she put him in the field yesterday next to some other horses and he was as cool as a cucumber. all fantastic stuff for the ride.
they are starting field work to day and when he comes home on wed/thurs leah is going to take him out a few times here with a friend that has a really sturdy minded horse to do some more passing horses and field work in company.
we have a field near us where the 4 mares just gallop up and down the side of the hedge as you pass, and the field is abour 6 ft lower than the road so the fence on the road side is only a couple foot high. if you see what i mean. so i have got to pull my self together , i really do under estimate alfie, and i can be a strong rider, so chin up chest out and NO MORE NERVES
going to see him later and give him big kisses.
hope youa re all enjoying this great weather.
cheers for now .
r and alfie xx
