What with all the threads about confidence and achievements, talk of the confidence crew etc.... might as well have another one.
Heres the thing ....
Hows about having this thread as a TO DO list. Those things you have not quite got around to ... you WANT to but lacking that bit of confidence to do it ... or could just be plain laziness.
Post your TO DO list and then update posts as to progress.
Now if you WANT to jump Puissance height but aint never jumped before or a bit spooky about jumping then its not likely putting it on a TO DO list will get you over that wall by next week. However, you might start with trotting poles leading to a 6" cross pole ... etc etc.
You get the idea .....

ooh, to get a double clear tomorrow at my event. If i ever get faults XC, its always at an event, never just a hunter trial, and its nearly always my fault for allowing myself to think baad things so that would be nice. Also to get a fair decent dressage mark and be in with a chance of getting a placing.
also to help my friend with her pony. Has recently begun to refuse at fences when my friend tenses up, so im helping her to try and get some confidence back in herself and her pony to go and get a few clear rounds.

Kya - well part of my contribution was starting the thread!!! hehe
But yeh ok ... my list currently would be:
1. Make a list of my bad riding habits. 2. Focus on an area for improvement and plan how to improve it. 3. Have a plan for schooling work and work out a useful variation.
Keeping it simple I might achieve one of these by this time next week.

Scared of putting this in writing, pride before a fall, etc but with Wozzer, my youngster, I can:-
1. Touch him anywhere including ears, etc 2. Move him with tips of finger pressure backwards or sideways 3. Always catch him when I want to 4. Pick up his feet no problem
And ......... at the first attempt this weekend, with the fabulous help of the amazing Zoe RA, can do the "L" exercise, ie. move him backwards through an L shape of poles, by using pressure/release on the lead rein only ;D ;D
(I can do all this with my Lincoln too, but we were starting from a different place with Wozzer ;D).

~ To get him nearer me (hes 2hours away at the momment seems daft but finally after 4months he may be near me ) ~ To get him fit and working in a nice outline in canter (manage walk and trot now) ~ To tackle a small xc course now we are going confidently over xc jumps, just not all in a course ~To be able to brush his legs without at least a sign of trying to kick me Most important on my list is for him to love me just as much as I love him and make him happy

To be able, reliable, to canter in a circle, both left and right, striking off on the appropriate leg each time, at once, and at the first aid given.
