Hello!
We had a good day.
Inhand vets - pulled in 2nd, but was then placed 11th (last) Judge did not explain why? Frustrating!!!!!! Hubby and other spectators also confused cos lame and overweight horses that barely trotted were placed higher. I managed a stonking trot with Troy - even if Hubby says I run like a camel - Troy looked fab.
RC horse - pulled in 9th (last) and placed last.
Not too worried about RC horse as the winner was gorgeous and well deserved. However 4 horses jumped the fence in TROT!! and Secondly 5 went off on the wrong lead in their shows. One bombed off!
To be fair Troy is an ex grade c showjumper and not really a show horse so to qualify at all is fab.
Just wish more feedback was given.
Fab venue esp with the loudspeaker - made it a lot easier!
I did meet SPook which was lovely! Though did not find out how she and Toby got on..... hopefully we will find out soon.

Ahhh, well done! Was it a chestnut with blaze and white snip on his nose by any chance? Just wondering if it was my friend, not sure what classes they were doing. At least you both had a good day and it was an experience for you both! Showing is a funny thing (even though I love it), sometimes it's not worth asking for feedback as some don't have genuine reason for placings. I was watching a class the other day and they had a probationary judge in (kind of a trainee), the judge asked her about the pony they'd pulled top and she said it wouldnt be her winner, when asked to elaborate she couldnt!

It was a gorgeous bay horse that won the class. The results are up online on the Chiltern & Thames Website if you wanted a look.
My hubby was furious at my final placing cos he was so pleased we had been pulled in 2nd to begin with, as we hadnt expected it. I explained to OH (as this was the 2nd time he'd come to watch us) that its like Miss World - some judges like blondes and others brunette - you just dont know how its gonna go.
Troy is currently recovering from a nasty split above his heel that had gone all yukky but I tried to clean it up as best as I could, so perhaps that is what sealed our fate.
Oh well, we have a mini show at home in a couple of weekends time so we'll try our hand there as well.
C'est la vie.

Thanks I'll have a look now. It always makes me laugh when I have to explain things to my boyf! Bless him, had to explain what laminitis was as my little pony is prone to it...think his brain exploded as he was wearing a glazed expression when I was half way though! LOL

Does he go by the name of Black Secret? My friends horse is called Dear John but he was in the ridden vets

Hello ! Hmm, it was a lovely show, but Toby despite jumping the practice and the first 5 jumps beautifully decided not to bother with the last two and we got eliminated - grr ! Sunshine, did see you get pulled in 2nd and was really chuffed for you, then when they were making their decisions, we were saying that we couldn't quite figure out how the judges could decide due to the huge variety in the class ! Still, see you there next year ?!

I know - we were all so flipping excited at being pulled 2nd and then to get last was so awful. Sorry to hear about the jumping Spook! Was it the funny filler thingys?
Indeed Troy is Black Secret and yes I have been chatting to Emma about Dear John as she had a bit of an unfair incident at one of the local shows trying to qualify John. Not sure she would know who I am but if you said that girl from Widmer in the ridden vets class with the black 'oss I think she would know.
I saw Emma at the champs but she was not able to stay and do the class as John was doing Style & performance I think.
I will have another go next year with the lad. Am contemplating selling him next year and getting the next model up as he ahs given me so much in terms of jumping and other stuff that I would like him to do the same for someone else but its just a thought a this stage.

Ahhh, he's lovely isn't he! Definately got character, Emma and I usually ended up at the same shows when John was a RH and I had my black horse. Ahhh, definately worth having a go. We've got an unaffiliated show at The College EC on 21st Oct, schedule's on their website and I think all the classes may be Amateur Showing Society qualifiers

Sunshine - I wish I could say it was the scary fillers but he jumped those like a dream. It was the two final jumps. One refusal and a very straightforward upright with no scary bits and the double at the end he point blank refused ! Couldn't and can't figure it out ! Never mind, we will keep trying ! Well done on the Oliver Townsend comp !!
