I've had some Caldene 1s for about 5/6 yrs, worn them almost every weekend since I've had them and they still look brand new, have been comfy from the 1st time I put them on. They were about £150 back then. I don't rate Regent long boots, their short Steed boot is lovely but the long boots look cheaply made I think (don't mean to offend anyone!)

Ok thanks - am contemplating venturing over to Ingatstone in Essex to that huge tack place as they seem to stock everything.
I have Mountain Horse at the mo, but they are looking a bit aged and I know that they dont quite look the traditional part.
The Regents, although looked simple, felt like i was walking on teh floor in my socks - no real cushion?! They were £110!!

I know, lot of money! The 1s I was going to get were like that aswell and they had not rounded shape at the top like mine do (in my sig) and looked more like wellies. Mine are really comfy and am usually in them all day at shows.

Eileen Douglas do ones that are rounded at the top and are quite soft and have a small R emblem on them, they are £74 so may drive over there and see if they are any good.
No point ordering online as if they dont fit gotta send em back and that is a right trauma!!!
Perhaps I'll go to Essex early on Sat am and just be done with it.

No no point ordering boots online unless you've tried them on already and have sourced a cheaper price!

I tried a few cheaper makes before succumbing to spending megabucks on my Sarm Hippiques - best move I made as they are sooooo comfy. I wasted a lot of money trying cheaper makes and selling them on.

Strangely I liked my Regents (until my calves put on an inch!), and after searching and searching for the perfect pair (including one of Kermies she sold me and were subsequently stolen when my car was broken in to!) I came across some second hand ones in a local tack shop. It's like they're made to measure, despite me having odd shaped legs (short legs, wide calves but skinny knees!)
My advice would be to just keep looking until you find what suits you - have a type of boot in mind and see what you can find.

Hi there,
Thanks for the tips, I am looking for boots with the feel and comfort of MHorse but ones that look more show/dressage as the MH look a bit clompy.
My MH ones are too big and Ihave to wear two pairs of socks. IN reality I need two pairs of new boots as my MH ones are slouching at the ankles and have seen better days to be honest.
Me thinks I'll be off to Essex this weekend!
