-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im thinking about doing working hunter on my pony, but I need help because I dont really know what it is I know that you do a course of jumps and a show but I need some help, I just wanted to ask some questions.Thanks.
Do you do the course 1st then the show? And if so would you the course then straight after stay in the ring and do the the show?
What sort is a working hunter horse or does that not matter, colud I do it on my 14Hh chesnut welsh bred? What are the hunter horses like?
What Do I wear, colud i wear plain blue show jacket?Could I have colored browband and does the colour of my saddle matter?
What show can I do?
Does mane and tail need to be plaited?
Thats all,if youve got any advice please help.Thanks.

copied and pasted from other thread.
Ok. You will always jump a course of rustic fences first. You may be required to do a show immediately BUT the more common practise is for all the clear rounds (and sometimes the four faulters) to return to the ring after everyone has jumped to do a show together and individually, you will be expected to give a good gallop.
A working hunter is usually a type with good bone but at local level Ive seen anything and everything entered (heck I entered my arabxappy spotty mare in a WH at a charity show!!) If your horse is a native breed (hairy!) then you may want to enter the M&M WH but if he is already pulled and isnt a 'hairy' type then you will want to plait manes and tails (or pulled tail)
Dress wise, ALWAYS a plain flat browband and noseband. You should really be wearing a tweed jacket (in green or brown preferably). The colour of your saddle and bridle would preferably be brown but dont worry if yours is black you cant go out buying new saddles for a few local shows.
Show wise you want to be able to show a good workmanlike trot and canter that cover the ground with good mannars and you MUST give a good gallop and pull up easily. Everything should be done smartly and cleanly and in a workmanlike fashion. You can use the same show you would with any other class but keep it SHORT whilst showing off your horses paces. Dont trot and canter round for ages.
