As many of you may know - I am on the show committee for South West Ponies Association and we hold around 6 shows a year and have a 3 day championship show in September. I have been given the task of organising stewards and trying to encourage people who enjoy horses to have a go at Stewarding - you don't need to have done it before and its an excellent way of finding out what judges are looking for - in my experience most judges are very helpful and friendly to their stewards and it can be great fun - we don't offer payment however you do get fed and watered and if you have got a horse that you show and you can persuade a member of the family to do a bit of stewarding we are about to introduce a system where you get a point for each class stewarded and when you have 5 points you can swop them for a free class (worth between 8 and 10 pound. We are very friendly and we will make sure you know what you are doing before we leave you on your own but it really is not difficult and you get to make some great friends as well. You need to be at least 16 years old and able to spend time on your feet. Please pm me for any further details - our shows are held in Exeter and Crick which is just in Wales at David Broome's Equestrian Centre so if you can help please let me know. Vanessa
