Anyone want to do my pleasure ride - Cotswold (EGB) group ride. 27km - 17 miles - starting in Bishopstone (8 miles east of Swindon) just off the M4.
here are some details:
[/b]
ENDURANCE GB
]Lark Social /Training Ride[/b]
Bishopstone
Sunday July 2nd 2006
A social ride over the Ridgeway Downs on the borders between Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire., If you enjoy the countryside of the Berkshire Downs and Ridgeway rides, you'll love this. Come and give it a go. If you are new to endurance, this is an ideal taster, and also good for those not aspiring to do endurance, but just wanting a great ride over the downs.
Starting in the delightful village of Bishopstone, this ride is over the glorious Ridgeway downland countryside with abundant skylarks, wide skies, extensive views over the Vale of the White Horse and long cantering grassy tracks. The route goes through the three counties of Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire, filling the "gap" between the Berkshire Downs ride and the Ridgeway ride.
The 26k (17 mile) route takes in less than 200 meters of road work, some 19k of grass tracks and fields, and 7k of harder surfaced, but good quality (sand/scalpings) tracks (i.e. the Ridegway itself!); much of which can be ridden on verges. There are some gates in the later part of the ride - most easily opened from horseback.
Cost £12 EGB members; £15 non members
(inc. EGB day membership fee- discount on subsequent joining fee available)
Further details and entry forms on website: www.endurancegbcotswold.co.uk (Entries also acceptable on standard Endurance GB entry form).
