As some people know I have a confidence problem which has not been helped by some non riding years due to youngsters. Mars was going to be my horse to help me get back out competing/hacking out etc. But I lost him to suddenly 18months ago. and on impulse I went and bought his full sister who is everything Mars would likely have been and a bit more besides as she was a little older, I bought her knowing she may not stay sound and after some time on her I decided to put her in foal so that I had an up and coming youngster should she have to be retired early. I planned to ride her through some of the pregnancy but for various reason did not and now it will be nearly a year before I can resume riding her, so..... My wish list at moment is to beg, steal or borrow (well not really steal!!) a nice horse to fill the void. I could take long or short term and who knows it may be that if horsey was eventually for sale I possibly buy, very open on this. Definate requirements: 15.2ish ~ Weight carrier ~ No ridden/stable vices ~ Calm and responsive in company and alone ~ Mega traffic proof ~ Easy to mount from block ~ First class brakes even in open space if cantering. No colour or age restrictions, some health issues o.k. but must know what they are. My aim is to be able to school, hack, beach/forest rides, local showing/dressage. Just to enjoy riding again. I am not a beginner and have run yards/reschooled racehorse for dressage/showing, competed and taught and have small stud so by no stretch of the imagination am I a novice, only a scaredy cat If you think you can help please pm or post here. Thank you

Perleeeeeeeease, I have a lovely new mounting block just waiting for my seal of approval. Can be the ugliest horse in the world as long as I can get confidence back.

oh carole, i couldn't just let you keep waffling on to yourself this might be better in a diff room - NH and General chat seem to get the most traffic - someone who lives close by might be able to help - unfortunatley i don't. sorry

Never mind Gypsycob, you had the right idea about where I would get most response, sadly its not allowed to stay there, how I long for the old style board with no sections, you could just choose to bypass what you didn't want

Where are Kate then, I don't mind 17.2 as long as he would stand by my new super dooper mounting block to allow me to get on (its about 3' high with steps up, table top area then steps down) the man who did my stable for me made them. I am getting to the point that I think I need to be more flexible over heights/ages/distances to find my ned. Can you give me as much info as poss and when for sale/price or loan/loan view to buy etc. What he would come with, any quirks or health issue's.

hi carole! I'm Kent, well borders of Kent/surrey (jct5/6m25) probably to far for you. Sam is a darling, he was affiliated at elementary level dressage until a nasty hock injury put a stop to it,I took him on as a happy hacker, local shows etc. He has been a dream and restored my confidence no end. He hacks alone or in company, never bolts off with you and is good in the heaviest of traffic.I don't compete or do shows, just hack out on the buckle and let him take me where he wants to go. I haven't ridden him over winter at all which has caused him to lose condition in his hind quaters, I'm going to start using the passoa on him this week to help build him up. He's on full livery and they put him on the horse walker for me but don't ride him. I love Sam to bits but feel I need time out for a while to take stock of my life,I want someone to look after him and bring him back into work and have fun together, he deserves the one on one attention that I'm not able to give right now for verious reasons. If the home is fantastic i'm happy to move him, even as far as you as my cousin lives in peterborough and i regularly visit her, so could easily manage to pop in to see you and him together if you were ever to take him on. I've never done hard work with Sam,it really has only been hacking. he has never scared me, has done the odd shy which was more of a large c shape than a jump to the side, he feeds off your emotions and will look after you if you are down. He really is a best friend and a total wos. Hates to be told off, loves his food and has to be first in line. Great to load, shoe etc. Hates mane being pulled and gets really pathetic if you have to clean a wound etc, not nasty, just sulks or trys to hide in the stable. Never kicks out at you, will put head in air when worming which is a nightmare because of his height. not keen on the flys, has fly mask which he isn't keen on wearing but doesn't put up a fight. He comes with everything, which is a lot because he's spoilt rotten. I would be happy to pay his insurance, vacc's. I love him dearly, he's one in a million.

And yes he will stand by the mounting block for you, he's very good at being patient. Don't laugh but I came off him once when i was trying to open a gate in a field, I asked him to stand to far away, I lent over to far, lost my balance and splat, face down, Sam stood there looking, sure his eyes rolled. He waited patiently for me to fuss with stirrup leathers and haul myself back on. He's a very forgiving horse, he evens puts his head/neck down when i dismount so I can slide down rather than end up on my bum. I think I embarress him poor love.
