Tear jerking story.........
The Story of Two Horses Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.... Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell.
It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow. As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray. When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell. How absolutely amazing and it shows anything is possible. Happy New Year Veronica

That is lovely, is it a true story?
Sometimes animals do the most amazing unexpected things, i watched a programme about lions - it was sad, yet very touching. A lioness killed a deer, and in the bushes was her fawn. The lioness protected the fawn and kept others in the pride away from it. Sadly the fawn became weaker and weaker, it wasnt weaned, and couldnt feed. so it died, but even the camera crew had never seen a predetor 'adopt' prey and look after it like this before. I was in tears it was so sad!

My friend had 2 dogs one was elderly and was deaf, the other dog would hear the dinner dishes or being called and would go and nudge the deaf one with her nose so the other one would knot to follow, she was a bit blind too I think.

Hi
My sister sent this story to me by email this morning. It actually had pictures of the two horses in question. Unfortunately when I copied it over to here it wouldn't pick up the pictures. But looking at the photos the horses definitely had a real closeness but I couldn't tell if one was blind. Its a shame though that it didn't copy the photos.
You are quite right animals are incredible.

The ILPH at Snetterton had a pony called Baisl blinded by Ragwort poisoning. He was buddies with another pony and used to follow him everywhere. He died not long ago - Ragwort got his liver at last, but he was able to live a normal retired life til the end.
And I know of a truly inspirational completely blind lass whose horse wears rythm bells , and who takes full part in clinics as well as backing her own youngster and training her puppy to be a trustworthy guide for her.
