I am having a bridle made to measure, as my mare seems to have an impossible sized head. She is quite a chunky girl, so I am going for a hunter style bridle in havanna. But looking on the website now, I am wondering whether to go for something a little bit different as I am having it made to order. However - nothing blingy or too over the top, as it is for everyday use. So just wondering what sort of thing I should consider. I've put a link to the website below, to give you an idea of the browband designs - I like the shamrock design, but my mare is Welsh X, so don't really fancy a leek! www.totally-equine.co.uk/leatherbrowband.htm... and in case it helps, a photo of Cariad. Thank you Imeanbusiness. I really want something different ... but don't want to regret it so it must look quite classic - as well as being a little bit different - if you know what I mean. By the way - like your new name!

I work as a fashion designer so can probably be described as fairly creative, I really like your horse and I think nthat she needs something a bit chunkier to complement her looks, personally I like the clincher one, gives it a bit of sparkle but not bling, I also liked the handtooled browbands and you can then do your own design, perhaps something a bit like tribal tattoo pattern... nice bridles though

Thanks everyone. Jen - I love the shamrock, but with her having a Welsh name, an Irish emblem doesn't seem quite right. Lovelylace - I thought of having something engraved on the browband, but wondered whether it might look odd with a design when the noseband was quite plain. What do you think?

Well I am now thinking of something Celtic to link in with her being Welsh - but all the designs seem to be quite intricate.

Why does it have to be leather? Have you seen the Australian Earthorse site? I got a bitless made -to-measure from them with rope rins but they do all sorts. Very practical, hard-wearing and washable - go on, beads and tassles are great - or just colour braid!! www.mena.org.au/earthhorse/index.htm

RJ - sorry, but I've got my heart set on leather because I want something to match my saddle. Will have a look at the website you suggested though. Indigo - I did think of a dragon, but probably a bit too intricate to fit on to a browband? Bored at work today, so still trawling through various websites looking ............... (Why do we still have these Santas? I want the other smilies back please.)

Out of interest, how does the throatlash do up/undo?

I've just designed a new bridle, to be absolutely as comfortable as possible for the horse- not on the market yet, but hopefully soon!

Ooh, sounds interesting Heather. By the way - do you have a little Shetland out on loan in the Colchester area? If not, then someone with the same name as you does!!
