I took the afternoon off school, and rode "Queenie" home on my 13th birhday ---------------quite a long way, on my own, and she napped after about 30mins and wanted to go back "home" lol She was 6 and I had her until she had to be pts at the age of 22

Had my first lesson age 5, had to wait until I was 36 for my very own horse - you know the rest! (b&**"$D$).

(hugs) Iceberg.
I was on a horse aged 4 - mainly due to demanding day after day & my mam gave up and took me to a RS. Age 5-8 I had Esaw to ride, he was a farm pony. Then aged 11-14 I had Trigger a friends outgrown pony. Both ponies I got to pretty much treat as my own, so I was a lucky girl. I still haven't had a crack at owning my own. Hope this autumn might be the year.
What's your story Melissa?

I'm 36, been riding 30 years, got my first horse proper (ie bought!) in October. I'd had him on loan since February and then bought him using someof the money I got from my insurance company having written my car off!!!! :-)

I actually bought my own horse when I was 25 after having had various ponies on loan etc when I was a kid, but my first horse was paid for by me when I was 25 - a great sense of achievement when I handed over the cheque for her and said good bye to lie-ins and money forever!

I was 20 and almost immediately got pregnant and had to sell her - gutted!! I simply couldnt afford to keep her and continue to support myself.

I started riding at 4 and a half and bought my own horse at 21. I bought my second at 30. They've both got homes for life. Want to buy another now...but think I'll have to wait for a salary increase or it'll break the bank!
