i'm moving my rising 3 section d to livery. he has been turned out in the same field for the last 18 months. do you think it's best to take him to the new place early and let him be turned out before evening stable or take him later in the day and just stable him til the next day. he will be on individual turnout and in his stable he'll be able to see all the other horses in there stable. so what way would you do it. this is the first time i've stabled him but i know he has been stabled as a yearling

I don't know but my instinct would be to take him ealry and let him have a run around first to blow off some steam or he might get bothered in the stable.

I would put him out as he is used to being out for the last 18 months but do it early so he has a daylight. hope that helps. x good luck

agree to put him out, even better to leave him out at night if at all possible. He will be v upset and confused if leaving friends and will probably try to climb out of a stable if he hasn't been in one for a while. Good luck, hope you can get him used to the new stable over a period of time rather than enforced stabling from day 1

I'd go with move early and turn out asap, assuming the new yard is happy with that.
I know that some yards have the 'worm and keep them in for 5 days' rule - does this apply?

For me, leaving him out on his first night would be dependent on whether there are other horses turned out next to him and the fencing, is mega safe. If all the other horses come in, then I would bring him in too. Personally, I would always prefer to let a horse unwind in a field after a journey if it was early enough in the day, and the weather was good, then I would bring it in for the night at this time of the year
