Happy new year people!!!
Some of you may have seen my thread the other day about Ted playing up and my rubbish position....i rode him yesterday, did a bit in the school with mixed success and then went out round the fields. Now i was still quite upset and stressing about flatwork and lower leg positions etc. but as i wandered down the track i thought 'hang on, i'm wandering down a track, on my horse, on my own, next to a field of horses and i have absolutely no worries about how my horse is going to react, i trust him to wander....some people would kill for that!!!' And then i started thinking about all the other things that we can both do well without a second thought. So i would like to start a thread where we can all have a think and write a few good points about our horses, a lot of the stuff on here is about horse problems (which makes perfect sense, there are is a lot of knowledge round here and most importantly people that are willing to give it) but when you are having problems sometimes you can feel so awful about it, like the world is going to end and you forget about all the stuff you can do that actually is quite tricky and others would struggle with. So even if you don't feel the need to post on the thread still just stop for a minute and think of all the good things about your horse, not to show off you understand, just because we can all loose sight of the good bits in among st the rubbish. And is a good positive way to start the new year.
I will go first
Ted will hack out anywhere, roads, beach, in company or on his own.
He will load on to anything given a few minutes to suss it out and is well mannered on the ground
He will jump most scary fences first time without looking at them and is a very brave, forgiving jumper
Right, who's next???

Good things about Lloyd, He has a temperment that you couldn't buy, is the most wonderful guy on the ground, despite his height a child could handle him When he has novices riding him he is an absolute saint, will totally look after them He challenges me and makes me improve He is my absolute horse of a lifetime, and is utterly wonderful

What a great idea Vic. Phoenix always stand stock still when I'm getting on him and doesn't move off until asked to. I can ride him in the school with the mares in the field next door hanging their heads over the school fence watching him and he doesn't react. I can lead him on a loose rope and he will stop when I stop, trot when I trot and walk when I walk staying by my shoulder the whole time. I can (most of the time) back him up with a very light feel on the rope and sometimes just by moving my hand as if about to take a feel on the rope. He is very easy to do in the stable and I trust him implicitly. ;D

Nice thread!! Put me in a very happy mood!! Misty - He is safe, sweet and very honest Molly - She is a lovely girl, soft natured and a big baby. She is very trustworthy and does try anything you ask her to do Alfie - He is a goon but he is so sweet, sensitive and really tries his hardest in everything that he does. He never stops being happy, he makes me laugh constantly and is generally nice to spend time with. Lizzie - She is just perfection, everything about her is good in my eyes.

Ahh Vic thats sounds good Happy New Year and good luck for working on the other bits... I love the horsey i am with at the moment for his Protectorness.... He is turning into a really brave little horse and taking everything in his stride and dealing with so much stuff at four hacking out alone in heavy traffic, etc still got a long way to go but doing well.

What a good idea for a thread!
Jim is possibly the most affectionate, cuddly horse I've ever known. He loves people & wants to be with them & please them.
Little Un seems to be totally unflappable & incredibly even tempered. Calm, confident - if he keeps this attitude as he grows up he's going to be a pleasure to own & a pony that can be trusted with any rider.

Good idea! Tex hacks out on his own happily. He's very brave and will go past pretty much anything. He leads nicely now 99% of the time. He stands like a statue for mounting. He canters without bucking now. He backs up and moves over softly from a point of the finger. He enjoys learning new things. He has a great character. ;D

Lilly is really affectionate, loves cuddles and will always try and groom me (or anyone standing near by) when i groom her. She is fantastic with the vet and generally anything they do to her. She was even used to train nurses to bandage when she was in hospital because she stood so quietly. She is trust worthy as she doesn't kick and would never hurt anyone so is great to be around. She is a very fast learner so when i was able to practice groundwork with her dually etc she would learn what to do in seconds. Although she was a nightmare to ride and still has her moments she is still perfect and i would not change her for the world. Its been 11 fantastic years and i hope many more to come. (Oh dear that started the tears )

Poppy is safe, sensible and has lovely manners.
She is excellent to hack out on the roads so long as shes with a mate!
We can wander around the fields on our own and shes a star.
I trust her and she trusts me.
Shes a lovely horse to be around.

He has the most gorgous eyes and looks deep into your sole but then all mules do. Once you explain things to him he does his best to please ;D

Ginger has the most wonderful temperament, he's great to handle in all ways and I honestly couldn't ask for more.
We've learned together for the last 4 years and I've never learned so much from one horse. He can be a challenge to ride but he has taught me too much to mention.
He is the most handsome horse ever!
He is great to hack both in company or alone, and equally happy to school.
He's my baby and I love him
