I went riding out with my mate and my pony cantered off. I tried to slow her down but she didn't, eventually she stopped, fast and the saddle slid forward so of course I fell off head first, since then I have tried to sort out the saddle, because my pony is now, when ever we trot, stops dead still while we are trotting and pulls her head down, in a way I think she hopes I will fall off again, what do you think? And how can I keep the saddle from flying of her? I'm really worried about it. Please help!!!!

Are you sure the girth is tightened up enough Shy? Secondly if the saddle is too narrow for him and sitting up on his back, it's going to slip forward as your ride. Even with the saddle and girth sorted, you need to develop a more independent seat to give you the balance to stay aboard when things go wrong as you should be able to sit out even an abrupt stop like that over time. Have someone experienced check your tack for you for starters. Happy New Year to you and your zippy lovely pony.

my saddle was slipping fwd and it turned out it needs re-stuffing at the front. Get a saddle fitter to check it.
also, see my thread underneath at the mo!! "Leather Girth"

use an anti-slip pad. put it under the saddle.
