Oops, OH calling me for lunch so initial post was a bit brief! I heard that he has a special scanner (or something....?) and it's been suggested that he take a look at a horse I have that might not be 100% sound (hard to tell!), I looked for info on him on the internet and couldn't find anything, hence I'm interested if any of you have heard of him/had a horse treated by him. I understand he's from somewhere around Bath and travels all over the country.

It rings a really dim and distant bell - in what context or what area? I could be completely wrong though
MTA sorry, crossed post. No, none the wiser

Just looked on RCVS website and no 'Maycock' registered, perhaps he's a 'therapist' rather than a vet??

I'd ask at the vet college at Bristol - if he is of any consequence and in that area I would think they would know him. Is he maybe a consultant or staff member there?

Do you mean its a lameness problem ? Havent heard of him, but my friends horse was seen by an orthapaedic specialist called Cedric Chan. He does some clinics from the veterinary centre at Somerford Park in Cheshire, but probably travels all over, as I know he is often in Europe too.

Hi
I know him and have had him out to my horse. His surname is Meacock and his website is Naturalhealingsolutions.co.uk. I think he is from Wiltshire or thereabouts. He is a very nice man who is into holistic methods although he is a qualified Vet. He has a machine called a Scenar therapy Scanner which can detect areas or pain and then treat them by activating the bodies own healing endorphins. He came out to see my boy last summer when he was lame. He used the scanner to treat the leg, shoulder and even put it on a sarcoid which disappeared shortly afterwards!
Worth contacting and does not charge an arm and a leg either!

I've only had this horse for just over 2 months, he's on loan and had most of the summer off with an abscess in his foot. The first time I had him shod he went lame and was lame for about 3 weeks. My farrier is very good and thought he might have got another abscess in his foot, but as nothing appeared (abscess-wise) I called the vet who suggested either nerve block and x-ray or give it another week and see what happens. I went for the latter suggestion (with agreement of the owner) and horse went sound. However my instructor (who is hugely experienced) thinks that either all of the time he had off with the abscess has caused him to be rather 'one sided', or there could be something wrong with his shoulder, so hence the suggestion re Roger Maycock, but funny there's nothing about him on the internet....

Hi Hope, our posts crossed there. Thanks very much for the info, I was beginning to think he must have been a figment of my instructors imagination (even though he spoke to him about the horse for me on the phone and gave me his phone no!)

Ah ha! Thanks!!! Now the bells are ringing - friend of mine used him when her horse has an unexplained lameness.
