Why not BHS? I did my BHS exams just to get some equine qualifications which are recognised world-wide. I don't necessarily do everything in the traditional 'BHS' way but it gave me a very good grounding and excellent discipline. I think a mixture of BHS and IH training has made me a much more rounded horsewoman (though I have to say I enjoyed and use the IH training much, much more )

I think Sally you need to try to go on some 'taster' days if you can, that way you will be able to make an informed decision as to what it is you would like to do. If you cant do that then get as much information as you possibly can on everything that interests you. I think being a vet would be a very good idea also, although there are a lot of years learning, but think of the money it would save you in the future. LOL. When you have decided do let me know please.

You don't have to go to college to do BHS exams, you can go and be a "working pupil" or whatever it is called now. I would also recommend BHS exams first. There is nothing wrong with the BHS exam system, it is known world-wide. Sometimes the INTERPRETATION by individuals is incorrect, but the syllabus was written by mega-experienced people and in my experience the BHS is always keen to adopt the latest scientific findings. If you want to be an equine physio you will have to do human physio first (and don't mention horses when you go to uni for the interview). You need good A level grades to do a physio course, competition is keen. You would probably need an equine science degree to do equine massage as well? ? Good luck with whatever you decide.

I can quite understand if you've been to a College to do BHS training! However, as Pip says you don't have to go to college to pass their exams. I didn't, I did mine as a hobby! Mind you I was in my late 20's by then and had a good job to support me! Good luck anyway and I hope you find the perfect job. Only one word of advice though - jobs with animals never pay - I know, I've worked as a groom, an instructor and a Vet Nurse - VERY long hours and low pay in all of them
