I brought Blue home after her week out this morning and Christy to keep her company. Christy injured her tendon in the summer so has been off for 6 months and out for 3 and now I'm going to try to bring her back into work.
I planned to ride Blue this afternoon just a slow 1 hour hack. But it has become clear that Christy is very clingy to Blue. Now I have stables a wood chip area and the paddock and ordinarily I would shut Christy on the woodchip area where she can't do damage and let her get on with it, but I'm worried she'll agrevate her injury. I think she'll get very stressed in the stable particularly as she hasn't even been on the yard for 3 months. I think once they settle in a few days it will be fine but what to do today?
I am going to lead Christy from Blue a lot as part of her rehabilitation. But as I will be going off the fields today (Blue will behave better on road and track as hasn't been ridden for a week) and Christy is barefoot and has only been on soft ground for months I thought this would be a bad plan.
But I just looked at Christy's feet and they look better than ever (they are usually pretty poor) but they look really good, so I think I'll take her with me.

Well--if she's not happy you can always turn back!!! Probably do her good to have an amble about anyway.
How did it go?

Well, it went very well, especially considering Blue hasn't been ridden for a week, and Christy hasn't been in work for 6 months and hasn't been handled for 3!
I managed to keep her on verges for most of the ride and actually when she was on tarmac or stones it gave my arm a welcome break as she walks very fast and Blue quite slow. I feel the need for groundwork coming, need to remind her how a domestic horse behaves.
Now the big dilema is whether or not to get front shoes put on her? But I will start a new thread for that when I take a photo.

Fab!!!! I'd die if I tried to lead H from JJ. He'd try to kill her, she's prone to tanking off anyway, and there's a pretty good chance I'd get dragged out of the saddle and end up going through someone's windscreen. They were so difficult last time we took them out I've now vetoed them from going out together!!! Guess they both need to remember how civillised domestic horses behave too
