Hi all,
I am stuck as to what new rugs to buy my boys as I seem to be keeping them both for the time being, I am either going for a standard rug on sale at my local tack shop for £80 or a full neck rug for £85.
Now I know it makes more sense valuse wise to go for the full neck, they currently have one full neck each and one standard and they wear them both.
What should I go for or what would you go for?
Hope you all had a merry christmas

I myself won't use a full neck rug on my horse, as when i did, she lost half her mane and it's never been quite as thick as it used to be So if you value your horses's mane, then go neck-less ! If you want it to thin out (it never thins out evenly all over ) then go for a necked rug Just my opinion, maybe I used the wrong one, or they weren't suitable for my mare ?

Hi, Well......on my arab he lost half his mane at the root level with a full neck rug However my big lass (IDx) always has a full neck and her mane is fine! On the subject of prices, Derby House own brand rugs are fab and a full neck is just £50 and the standard neck just £40!!!!

Well its cold so I'd get a full neck, Gus has never lost his mane... Or you could get a rug with a detachable neck, if they start to lose their mane, take the neck off and then you don't have to buy a new rug

I've always used full neck rugs until my mare discovered she could put her neck under the electric fence and barge tho without getting zaped. So now she has half necks or normal ones. I wish I could use them because shes blue and white and LOVES the mud. Shes a nasty yellow/black colour at the moment
