Been looking into getting a travel mirror to put in my Horsebox and have been looking through a few of the sellers websites. Now there is one who sells highly polished stainless steel and says that acrylic mirrors are bad... but the others are all selling acrylic mirrors!! Confused?? I certainly am! What are your experiences please??? I need one before the 11th January... so time is running out!

Hi Bertie have no real experience with mirrors. I know they had them at Caythorpe where Clare was, think they even brought them onto the scene, if you get my jist. Caythorpe Equine has now moved to Lincoln, DeMontfort Uni, so could you give them a bell? Can you ring the sellers and ask them why they say they are bad? Just a thought and may allow you to make an informed decision.

mirrored steel is fine, ive been saying for years that you can go to a manufacturer or a steel works and get a piece for a fiver, just mke sure the round the edges, wont last for ever but i had mine for 6 years before they began to look dull, chewue out these there only down the rd, but i know he will post it out to you,, he made mine www.marlyn-engineering.co.uk

The acrylic ones can apparantly crack and leave sharp edges but I think this is a bit of a scare tactic so you buy the original stainless steel ones that no-one else can market as I believe they are patented.
I am also looking at getting a mirror for my trailer and stressy lone traveller(great with company). He loves mirrors. he spends ages looking into them if we happen to come across one at a schooling session! Anyway as I didnt want to drill holes in my trailer to fix the metal or acrylic ones so I had a look about on ebay and have ordred some 'mirror tile stickers' designed for bathrooms. Much cheaper and hopefully will stick on. They also did mirror sticker on a roll if more suitable. If it works out I may invest in something more permanent but happy to spend a tenner for now! If anyone has had sucess using a mirror in the trailer for stressy travellers I would love to know.
