Morning folks
Thought I would start this as the other one is getting so long! For those of us having problems going through all the pages and posting..I have worked out that each page only allows for 15 posts..so I thought we could just start a new thread after 15 posts have been put up on the first page..or the second?? I dont know if this will clog the board..it will be the same number of replies but maybe too many scary days?? What do you all think? I usuall write my reply as I go through the pages and then copy and paste it onto the next page..if you know what I mean? As I have to read a reply and then answer to that one before I go on to another!! I think I am definately in with the "old farts"!
Yesterday I bought some nice bamboo roller blinds for my room..a bargain at a tenner! Went to put them up and as I was unrolling them to get the screws etc which were inside..I thought "oh why is the string all tangled up like this"..so I carefully untangled it..only to discover that it was supposed to be like that so that blinds could be opened/closed!! DOH! NOT the brightest bulb in the box am I? Anyway I spent hours trying to sort them..Eileen answered my plea for help and came to see what she could do..but no luck! Today I am going to ask my Mum to take them into the shop and see if the girls there know how to sort them..I cant face them!! Alfie and Michael had a good laugh at me..OH just shook his head and said "I am saying nothing"!! Got all the railing of the decking finished..ran out of stain..oh what a tedious job! Went and got lots of little tester pots of paint from B&Q for the hallway/stairs..lots of lovely colours but once up none of them really that nice! It is hard to decide on a colour that will go with my chocolate brown carpet!! I am sick of this "Natural Wicker" colour!! It shows up all the dirt!!!! I did think one of the colours would be nice for Michaels room though..just have to convince HIM of that! Going for lunch with my Mum today..hope it is uneventful! Off now for a walk with Rico and back later to trawl through number 16 and copy/paste personals!!
Have a nice day everyone

Personals from 16..phew! Aberlemno..a mincer stud! LMAO!! Dont you just find all the bargains? Your car boots seem to be full of them..I never find anything of great interest..mind you I am usually accompanied by Tiegan who drags me over to all the stalls with toys and we end up going home with bags of Barbies and the likes! Must make some time to go myself as I love a good old rummage! EMW..how went the final filming? Did you manage to see Jim? How is he? Jenna..Armbros prognosis is guarded at the moment..however due to how well and how quickly he has recovered so far we are hoping that he will have at least 50% liver function. I think I would be really at home on a boat as I have so many cobwebs here! Its just laziness with me though! Glad you had a nice week end and the boys joined you after all..bet they had fun. Well done you..a first eh..no wonder OH was slightly miffed! Cant do Reiki but lots of prayers for your friends son. Jude..what a lovely day you had then..thankyou for the report..almost feels like I was there:) Bet you're glad it wasn't you driving then? lol tl..lovely butterfly..how do you manage to do that and put writing on? I will go and investigate the Dollar Glen Castle..thanks for the idea..oh I am hopeless!! Below is a piccy of Armbro in daylight! lol Not sure what shows/classes..don't even know what he could go in..the pics dont really do him justice..what catches you eye is when he moves..cant explain it tl..you know I am rubbish with words!l Your eider ducks would have been a sight to behold..i have never seen that many together. Esme..hope you had a nice lunch..next time have a wee vodka and coke for me please. Arm bro is 12 or 13 now..oh I always forget and have to go and check his papers!! Ive had him 5 years now..oh that makes him 12!! Wills..I will bring Dusty over for sure:) yes I remember the Clydesdale..did it belong to one of the girl's b/friend? It was lovely. I wish I had made it to the Perry clinic this year but the purse was sadly empty! Shep..glad you made it! Aw poor wee pup..have you named him yet? Glad things are looking up with sis and her horses..it must have been so frustrating for you. You are lucky having OH to ride out with..mine has tried bless him but he just finds it too uncomfy!! Never mind he is happy to walk. Napster..lol..I don't think there is an easier way ..if you find one let me know..I think we all get dizzy..or does that come with age!! Rosemary..oh so glad you had a nice day..your cake sound lovely..lucky you..my mouth is watering thinking of it!! Good luck with the show tomorrow:) Ann NF..oh that sounds like a lovely walk you had..its good the ponies are doing well..do you have any pics of them?

Wow! We're still 'ere then!
Good idea on limiting the posts, Lynn - but perhaps we should limit it to two pages rather than one, or we'll get to Scary Day 100 in no time at all!!
Jude - what a lovely report of Gatcombe! You lot have such a way with words! Brings back so many memories - I know exactly the bank you're talking about!
Shep - aww, bless the pup. I guess all the others are doing well?
Jennie - Perhaps you could start a mincer museum?? I've had to wean the OH off car boots. I enjoy the wander around, but we just don't have the space to put stuff! He's already a hoarder, keeps boxes and packaging "just in case"!
tl - what a beautiful butterfly! It's one thing we don't get a lot of, by the river. Our visitors tend to be dragonflies and damselflies. The eider ducks sound wonderful! We just get the mallards (usually running up and down the roof of the boat at 5 o'clock in the morning) and, of course, the swans.
Napster - I tend to open a "Word" document, write my reply in there, while scrolling through the posts. I then copy and paste it into the little reply box. Or if I'm feeling lazy, I just write someone's name and then a word to remind me what they've said - ie "shep - puppy"!! It can be a bit daunting - especially on this new one, when you log in and there's PAGES to read!!
Rosemary Hannah - glad you had a lovely birthday!
I was thinking last night about what peeps said about divulging personal info - d'you know, it never even crossed my mind! I think of you guys as my friends, and I never even thought about other people reading stuff! Better be a bit more careful then ...
Spoke to our friends' son last night (let's call him "S"). He was sitting outside in the garden at the hospital, in the sunshine, with a bunch of friends. I rang his dad on his mobile, and he handed it over. He's really chipper (but very bored - and hates the food). He had a lumber puncture which is obviously uncomfortable, and a biopsy from the lump under his armpit, but he's very upbeat - more so than his parents. It will be a long haul - it'll be at least 6 months of Chemo.
My ex is avoiding me now I think. We held our breath Friday in case he called it off again, and when we went to pick them up Saturday, his new Mrs brought them out, and when we took them back, they let themselves back in. We did have a chat with them to make sure they were happy - I tried to explain that I didn't want to make them do something they didn't want to do. The ex's explanation is that they're telling me stuff they think I want to hear, but I don't get that impression. Certainly the look on the oldest's face when he collected his prize - you could have powered a lightbulb from that grin!!
Oops, the boss has just arrived .....

Happy Birthday Lynne xx Pup is called 'Cap' and is still with us, though gave me a scare last night as seemed weak and listless.... okay again today though. Forgot to tell you all that my OH had a go at the coloured cobs feet... and wee Noddy's feet... trimmed and smoothed them with a rasp, they look brilliant!!

Right, hopefully I am organised with my reply system now (Word document) so I can scroll backwards and forwards and not lose everything in the process!
Jenna - I sat down and meditated and sent what healing I was able to your friend's son (I tried so hard, so I hope he received something). He sounds like he is coping well with it, but perhaps he may be put to the test when he actually has chemo.
It can't be easy sharing children between remarriages either, especially if you are not 100% amicable about the situation. I was fortunate and although I was married before, we never had children, so my three are "sired by"!!! by current OH.
A Mincer Museum - I rather like that idea! I find them hard to resist - don't know why, but probably because they remind me of my childhood. It was always my job to turn the remains of the Sunday roast into mince for Shepherd's Pie on a Monday. I used to make the Mint Sauce too. . . I did have a break from the Car Boot Sales, but am addicted again now . . .
As for personal stuff - I don't think we actually divulge that much about our whereabouts - only vaguely tied to an area. What that other spiteful girl said was referring to people who gave the exact whereabouts of the yard where they kept their horse or pony, and what have you, which enabled her to sound as if she lived just down the road and actually knew them . . . I think most of the clocking up of viewers of this thread on the forum are ourselves - I sometimes read people's postings although I don't have time to write myself, and the rest of us will be clocking up quite a few viewings and postings personally.
Lynn G - Happy Birthday to you too - hope you had a lovely day, and a nice meal, pressies etc.
Armbro is such a lovely boy and looks in super condition. He reminds me very much of a horse I knew when I did my BHSAI training back in 1971. He belonged to the Senior Instructor and was called Red Alligator - he was a beautiful lad. Long gone to Rainbow Bridge now, as has his owner.
I had to laugh at you and your bamboo roller blinds - I think I would have done the same thing too!
It sounds like you've been working really hard on your house, what with painting the decking as well as all the other jobs. I spent the afternoon in the garden today, and removed 5 barrowloads of weeds and plants I didn't want to be living where they were for any longer. I am removing all the problem plants I've given house room to for 18 years, in order to make the garden easier to maintain. You know - the sort you give house room too and then they become garden thugs!
tl - 7 mincers at the last count. I really should re-home some, but I'm getting fond of them . . . My husband thinks I'm quite loopy . . . I had to smile at the Meat Grinder adverts I have inspired at the top of the page, just by writing Mincers!!!
How thoughtful of you to let the Eider Ducks sleep in peace. I have always wanted to see them in the wild. Best I can manage is Pink Footed Geese on the Essex Marshes (think I've remembered that correctly).
Ann NF - I was with you when you wrote so eloquently about your walk on the marshes. The only walk I have managed today is to take Fahly up to the field with his girls. Tam had a friend round earlier, and they walked the dogs, but poor Fahly was doing stallion yells because his herd had split up. I tried to calm him, as I was still in the garden, weeding, but he was trumpeting and hurtling round because Tam had gone up the hill! Daft horse!
Jude - how exotic the Bee Eaters are, but how sad their offspring didn't survive to fly home. I can remember one of the Monica Edwards books which was set on the Romney Marsh, and told the story of when a Hoopoe nested. I believe they are regular visitors now.
I loved hearing about Gatcombe. I only went the once, but it was a lovely venue. We're just too far away from anything where we are now, sadly, although we could still get a place on the Pony Club bus to Badminton if we wanted (and saved hard enough!)
I hope that your new pillows continue to be excellent. OH and I have orthopaedic pillows which I bought at the Royal Welsh one year, and they are excellent, even though they were £25 a piece.
Shep - I hope the collie pup is on the mend now - pity that mum got a bit over-enthusiastic with him.
I'm quite happy with the new format of the forum - just takes some getting used to, but the craft forum I go to has the same layout, so it didn't seem too different for me.
Esme - is Dunston your own horse, or one you have on loan? He sounds a lovely lad.
Glad you enjoyed Cornwall and came home feeling rested. My family will be off this holidays too, so I will be staying home and holding the fort. I predict I shall get an incredible amount of "Home Economy" done, and revamp the garden totally!

;D I am thrilled that my OH has taken an interest in the horses feet; both Doug and Noddy were so well behaved, they stood as good as gold, which gave OH confidence; he only 'tidied' them up, nothing drastic, but after the farrier comes on the 18th my OH will be able to keep up to them by filing them regularly; I just hope the other hooligans will behave when it gets to be their turn!!!! OH has gone off to yorkshire to collect his teenage daughter and her friend who are coming up here for a week; I am pleased as they are keen riders and the horses will benefit from the extra work (especially the coloured cob who is a bit plump!!) The twin pup to the poorly orphan is HUGE!! He has his mum all to himself and is growing enormous! Wee chubby chappy he is!! After long reining wee Noddy yesterday I am keen to get him in Harness, so will be on the lookout for a set and a cart. I don't think The Mad Pointer From Hell is having pups; you remember she went away to be mated (a week of peace for me.... but I missed her so much!!) but I don't think she has conceived, she hasn't even the remotest sign of a tummy. Time will tell. My Silkie hen has hatched two adorable chicks, OH built them a little house of their own as the other silkie and bantams keep trying to steal the babies! Mrs Silkie is happily settled in her own home now, bless her. Our water supply, from the stream on the hill, is getting frighteningly low, barely a trickle; so Im off to do a rain dance and will be offering sacrificial gifts to the Gods..... what would you give to a Rain God?? A brolly? Galoshes? I will have to think of something, it's getting desperate! May be off here for a while since the teenagers will be hogging the computer in the evenings, but will be back next week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNN!!!
Hope you have had a wonderful day, especially after all the recent trauma.
Why didnt it say that it was your birthday on the board I wonder? I noticed it said peoples birthdays on there the other day, and presume 'it' knows as we had to put our dob when we registered. Love the pic of Armbro BTW
I think the DG wouldnt be happy if we started too many threads, we would be getting through several a week - lol! What problems are you having Lynn? You can click direct to the last page and not have to go through them all. I noticed some people have put that the page doesnt fit on properly but I havent had this. I think you are using Explorer as a browser - why not try Firefox? It is great, far far superior to Explorer (free download from Mozilla) The good thing about it is you can open lots of links at the same time, and you can have them all loading in the background while you read one that already has. You can open all the different Scary Day pages then just click between them back and forth to see what has been put. I cant survive without Firefox and its tabbed browsing now, when I had to use Explorer on friends 'puter the other day it nearly drove me mental!!!! (I've got the last 3 pages of Scary Day 16 open at the mo to refer to)
Aberlemno, how is stripy horse and his puffy leg - hope he is okay. You can always open a Mincer Museum to display your exhibits - lol!
Jenna, I do hope your friends son is progressing - what a terrible shock for everyone. 80% odds sounds pretty good though, so fingers, toes and everything crossed for him. I'm sure your boys genuinely enjoyed the model boats - just ex trying to play games. So glad it was a success
Sooooo it's Shy Esme then - lol!
Napster - I get the most dreadful migraines - to the point where I darent move a muscle for fear of being violently sick. Definitely lie-in-a-dark-room-with-flannel-on-eyes type. Mine are triggered by sinus problems. Ordinary stuff doesnt help at all, the doctor is trying long term low grade anti biotics (the kind you take for continual chest infections etc) I am touching wood as I say this, but they are currently working wonderfully well. Nurse friend thinks I may have a mild alergy to something, and this is keeping it damped down. I was worried about taking things long term, but feel so much better generally speaking I think its worth the risk. What I am on is old tried & tested one used for bronchitis etc. and nurse friend says you can take them forever with very little worry. I still get the odd migraine, but nothing like I did. They had been getting to the point where my life was badly affected and I was having daily headaches, 1 or 2 migraines a week and also getting wheezy - so I will risk side effects as all has virtually gone! Big sympathy - when I get them I would gladly be shot to stop the pain & sickness!
Shep - can you do pics of the puppies? They sound adorable! Glad sis it starting to tow the line - 'bout time!
tl - are you there, or have you got too fed up with the new format? I must admit, I have stopped browsing and posting on other topics as much as I did. Now they are all in different bits I am not bothering. When it was all muddled in I popped in and out of interesting stuff I noticed when looking for Scary Day.
emw - hope the filming went well??!!
Laura - I wondered who on earth you were - then I realised its Laura(Taz) - not the same without Taz!!!
Rosemary - so glad you had a lovely day for your birthday. Your son sounds wonderful making such a gorgeous cake - I take it this is the horsey one too? You will miss him when he goes back I am sure.
The farrier has been and he is really positive about CKs feet and feels we have made a real breakthrough. For the first time in several years there was actually lumps of horn to nip off as well as rasp. He has a small crack in one toe, but farrier said its nothing. The sole has really thickened up and he is galloping round our rutted concrete hard field happy as larry. I still havent done much road work, but farrier says just 'go for it' now as our field is just as hard and rough as the gravelly lanes and bridle paths. When he starts doing regular work now and more mileage we will see if his feet will stand up to it. Phil is away for a couple of days, so I will get him to do pics when he is back - will also re-post the original one of when the shoes first came off to compare. Farrier and I are amazed at the difference, quite unbelieveable. Obviously shoeing doesnt agree with him - when I bought him he was recently backed with his first set of shoes on, and he seemed to have excellent feet - they have slowly deteriortated over the few years since. I havent fed him differently since having the shoes off, or applied anything to the feet - its all happened just because he isnt shod. Fingers crossed everyone! M's feet are so tough he had trouble nipping them back - so no question of shoeing him just now. TC's feet had splayed a bit, but are fine too. As he has been roughed off while daughter at Uni they have 'conditioned' themselves and seem tough too. Farrier has bought his wife a ConnemaraX yearling, and says he certainly wont waste his time shoeing it in future unless absolutely necessary as it seems to have tough feet - and he is all for barefoot horses if it suits them (although also feels not all can happily go barefoot, and it does depend on workload balanced with original hoof type & condition, how it is kept etc.)
Nice day today - after farrier we went to get some diy stuff for the old kitchen which we are turning into a study (hence even more mess here than usual - well thats my excuse anyway - lol) We treated ourselves to some Hereford Steak for lunch, and sat outside in the garden with a lovely meal and a bottle of wine. A nest of wrens has just fledged and they were fluttering round us, landing on the apple tree above, and even on the picnic table. They are SO sweet - and amazingly noisy for such little tiny birds when calling their parents.
Sorry if I've missed anyone, there were a lot of posts to trawl back over having missed a couple of days & only doing the Gatcombe report.

Evening All! Phew, I had to fight my way through to get a look in tonight, DW was chatting for ages to goodness knows how many friends, meantime I was at the ironing board and baking a cake (not on the ironing board!) for him to take with him to work tomorrow. He's only 15 but the place he did work experience have let him go back in the hols as he loved it so much and was really good and helpful.
Aberlemno, Dunston is only partly mine, I have a two day loan with the riding school, another lady has two days, he gets one day off and the others he works. Really I think of him as all mine and no one else could possibly love him as much, although Linda (the other sharer) is allowed to come a close second. I would love to have him full time but don't have the time or the money but he is a very dear chap. Today we took him to the "gallop field" and I rode him there and walked and trotted in the field a bit - very brave for me - then my daughter got on him and took him up the field in canter, she did try for gallop but he said "chill, no need to hassle" or something like that and so she showed me how much control she had and how good he was being by doing another canter with her arms outstretched and no reins. This is all to show me how safe he is and that really and truly I can do it too (well, hang the no reins but I might eventually get the nerve to canter him in an open space!).
Happy birthday Lynn! Loved the story of the blinds, do you do string puppets too??? What a lovely colour Armbro has in the sun, like a polished conker!
Jenna, good to hear "S" is keeping his spirits up, I'm sure it is hard on his parents though I can't imagine having to go through that with one of mine, you just hope you never have to. Will keep thinking of them all and sending healing thoughts, you're right though the chemo really seems to set people back but it will be worth it to knock the nastie on the head!
Shep, good to hear some happy bits from you. As for the rain we've only had a few dribbles here lately, although the grass has managed to go green again. How about offering the rain gods a desert or two, they could have great fun with those, then you could throw in a few of the water rides from Thorpe Park and Alton Towers just to get them in to the swing of what you really want!
Jude glad the farrier is happy with the feet, and the horse of course! Have fun with the study and stop making my mouth water with the steak! How do you cook yours? We just got a George Foreman grill and found it made steak deeeeelllllliiiiiccccciiiiiioooooouuuuussss! Meant to be healthier too, but hey, I just love the taste!
Got to go now, eyes are drooping with the rest of me body so better get tucked up before another day dawns. Love to you all xxxx

Happy Birthday Lynn.I just made it with about an hour to spare.Hope you've had a good day. Still here Jude, but not enjoying this new format.I don't feel the urge to look at any of the other threads now.The beauty of the old DG was in its simplicity. This is a carbon copy of all the rest.I do love things different! The water has been like polished steel today, with hardly a ripple, and, not a duck in sight.Yesterday when the waves were busy we had a bobbing flotilla out there.Funny that! Great news about the feets. Can't wait to see the new photographs. Ann of the Forest. What a lovely title that is.It really does sound like a childs book. I loved your walk. It's good to hear about other beautiful places. I've known sheep nibble the cord off too neat Shep, and I've had to do a bit of patching up in my time.Hope the wee ones none the worse for vigorous maternal attention. It's raining with us,so with a bit of luck you wont be losing your water, according to the charts the wet is heading your way. It has been a very quiet day with us.Grey and damp and decidedly Autumny. The rose hips are forming, and the blackbirds have taken to chip-chipping in the evening, a sure sign of darkening nights and things to come.

;DHURRAY!!!! Rain is here!!! My Rain Dance must have worked Lol! It is a damp, drizzly, misty morning and smells fresh and crisp and scrumptious! The sweet peas growing by the door are more fragrant than ever and the whole garden is looking refreshed and sparkly with gossamer threads in their hundreds. Wee Cap the pup I am rearing got me up at 4.30am but at least I had a few hours uninterrupted sleep from eleven last night..... he has been getting me up every two hours and I have been a zombie Lol!! The sun is just creeping up over the forest and sending golden rays across the hill, it is one of those beautiful mornings when I sit and watch the world with a sigh of complete contentment...... have a good day everyone

Thanks for the b/day wishes everyone:) Had a nice meal with Mum..not really an exciting day as it should have also been my wedding day..but never mind. No pressie from OH as my weekend at EMW demo is what I chose:)
Jenna..good to hear that "S" is managing to keep his spirits up..I have a friend who does Reiki and shall ask her to send some along with everyone else..I can only offer my prayers. i am pleased you and your sons had a nice day..your ex sounds a bit of a prat..I am sure the boys would tell you if the were bored..i wish I could have seen their faces when they got their prizes..a memory they will treasure.
Darkmare!! Thankyou my friend:) Hope to see you before Monday though..I have had a bath..honest I dont smell!!
Shep..great news about Cap..bless him..he will no doubt be another of your many shadows! Thats good that OH can do feet..saves waiting on farrier. If you want to read any trimming books or anything give me a shout as I have a couple and once Jude has taken from the cd what she needs then you can have a look at that if you like? Poor Mrs Silkie..trying to steal her babies indeed! How happy she must be now..your Oh sounds a wonderful caring man shep. I am thinking about you in your wee cart..clip clopping along the road with all your "family" following behind!!
Aberlemno..isnt it scary just how quickly weeds take over..mine was starting to resemble a jungle and dont ask me how or when but..we have barley in our garden! Honestly we have..I have had everyone inspect it incase I am imagining it..the wee birds had a feast on it and are sad to see it go..not that they had left much!! I ended up just buying another set of blinds..maybe I can look and see how to fix the broken ones and then put them in Michaels room..if not I will pluck up the courage to take them back!
Jude..i think I put my birthday in our format and as this is American it may show my birthday on the 8 september! We shall see. I will have a go at firefox but I am such a wimp..the thought of trying to download it scares me!! lol That really is good news about the feet..especially for CK..well done for taking the plunge! Your lunch sounds idyllic Jude..how sweet the wrens fluttered around you. I have lots of little birds in my garden but as I still havent bought a book then i dont know what they all are!! We had one come into the house last week but Alfie managed to let it out before it harmed itself..they hop around the decking in the morning shouting for me to hurry up with their breakfast!
Esme..Dunston sounds wonderful..I dont think it will be long before you are having a good old canter..take it at your own pace and you will be fine. I had never thought of describing Armbros colour as a polished conker..its good..it is so very true!! Did the cake turn out ok? I can only bake from a packet! Yes I know..I am hopeless! I have honestly tried but never really succeeded...cooking/baking just not my forte in life. I have a George Foremans too..they are great but oh I hate the smell of the meat cooking..probably why I dont really eat it but the "clan" all enjoy it!
Rosemary..have a lovely day today..good luck!
tl..thankyou for my cyber card..made me feel all soppy! like you I am not as keen on this new board and find I dont really bother too often reading other posts...I too enjoyed the simplicity of the old. But we cant lose you tl..please dont stop visiting and spending time with us..you would be sorely missed. I heard through the grapevine that Scotts place is now sold..he is only keeping one pony..an old favourite..dont know what one though. It has to go to his field in Aberfoyle and be looked after by one of his liveries who stays there. How sad really..I hope the Dene/Balliton lines do not dwindle away now. I wonder why the ducks were not on the sea when it was calm? Daredevil thrill seeking ducks perhaps?!
Well today I am not really doing much..2 days and then I am off to Hereford!! Oh I cant wait! Have told OH that we must leave around 5.30am as I want to go and take in all the sights I can on Friday..then the demo saturday..car boot sunday and then home. I jsut love going to new places and to meet all my cyber friends just makes this even more special. A great b/day present indeed!
Off to walk this whining sad eyed dog now!! Take Care All

Lynn, how very true those words are.Where do they come from? Birthdays are often bitter-sweet I find, funny how the up days are often have their low moments.Sods law I suppose.Expect nothing and everything else is a bonus a friend of mine always says! News of B's sale hadn't got this length.Grapevine a bit slow due to Malvern etc. Sorry your card was a bitty late, yesterday was one of those days! Did you notice the buzzy bee?It was working the roses despite the rain.
Shep glad the wet has come your way. I wonder how NJ got on with their water situation. It was dire the last time she spoke.
Hospital visiting later on.Needs to make haste. Have a good day everyone.
