I took Titch to the vet yesterday and he was put to sleep. He was 17 years old and his kidneys had all but packed up. Despite medication, he was rapidly losing weight and balance, but worst of all, he had lost his purrr! If you knew him, you would know that lack of purr for Titch was a major sign 'cos he was the purriest cat you ever heard.
He stopped all the dogs in the road, and none of them ever chased him, so amazed were they that he wasn't scared. He had a terrible habit of jumping into anyone's van if they parked outside, and we always got the milkman, the postman and the BT man to check before they drove off in case he had sneaked in while they weren't watching!
He was always there for us. good days and bad, and we will miss him dreadfully, but we owed it to him to take the right decision. He has a lovely place under the buddlia bush in the garden. RIP Titch we will remember youxxxxxxx

He sounds a wonderful boy - RIP Titch.
Our cat was the same age and had the same problems - we now have 2 rescue cats who are totally different.
