1988-20.11.2006 My beloved cat Sheba AKA Nina Kitsy Was pts this week following a stroke. I was 8 when we got her and her sister, Simba who passed on many years ago. Nina Kitsy was such a special little cat who lived a very healthy life and did not suffer. I cannot believe she has gone and it came as an awful shock when I got home from work to be told the news. My Mum & Dad were with her as when I moved out, because of her age, she stayed with them. When I was a kid I used to smuggle her into my room! lol My Mum hated it, Nina would hide under the covers and I'd convince my Mum I hadn't seen her!! Writing this on here is just bringing it home that she has gone, I must've somehow thought she'd live forever. She was such a massive part of my childhood - someone who I confided in... Someone who understood when things were hard growing up... sounds crazy I guess but I love her so much. Nina Kitsy would climb onto my lap and get as close around my head as she could! She'd wrap her 'arms' around my neck and smother me with her long fur. God I'm baffling now... thanks for readin, I think it's helped writing it all down. Nina I love you very much and you have a special place in my heart. Enjoy rainbow bridge, I miss you. RIP old girl xxxx

I'm so sorry to hear this Lisa. We had my cat Polly from before she was born (owned her mum) and we chose to keep her from the litter so I grew up with her. About a month before I was due to leave home to move into the house I had just bought with OH she suddenly became very ill. The vets operated and found she was full of cancer so called it a day there and then! I had been really worrying over the fact that I was going to have to leave her behind at my parents as she had been such a massive part of my life for 13 years, but it was even saddder that, in the end that wasn't to be the case!
Take care Lisa and don't feel that your emotions should be any less because she was 'just a cat' - I know exactly how you feel. Polly died nearly 6 years ago now but I am still crying typing this! Hope Nina Kitsy and Polly can meet up at rainbow bridge.

Thanks for your kind messages. Gem you are so right; they are not 'just cats' far from it They are little cuties that touch our hearts in so many ways. I'm doing ok and am coming to terms with it all. Me and my OH went to my parents today and it was odd not having Nina about. I am just so glad she didnt suffer.

Sorry to hear this Lisa. Can't think of life without Socks so can imagine what a gap she has left. No doubt she's keeping Rainbow Bridge mouse-free. xx

It was nearly 12 years ago I lost my old cat, Lady, who was 17 years old, but your post has brought all my feelings about her flooding back. Like your Nina, she was my friend and companion as I grew up; she came with me when I left home and was always there for me.
I'm sure your puss had a fantastic life with you - she was obviously very much loved.
Don't be ashamed of showing your feelings - no way was she 'only a cat' - she was your friend.
