IF IT SHOULD BE
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what can be done
for this last battle can't be won
You will be sad I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stands the test
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
Would you want me to suffer so
When the time comes please let me go
Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only stay with me til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see
I know in time that you will see
It is a kindness that you do to me
Although my tail it's last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved
Do not greive it should be you
Who must decide this thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Thank you so much Julz. I still cant stop crying, i cant believe she is gone. My house is so quiet and the other dogs are very withdrawn today. She didn't suffer. She was being her usual cheeky, devilish self before i put her to bed last night. I really didn't expect to find her dead this morning Zoe was diagnosed with a very enlarged, diseased heart with secondary congestion to the lungs on the 18th October 06. She had taken unwell on the 3rd October, and on the 18th we had her bloods and x-rays done. She was a rescue dog and we had her for 7 1/2 years. The vet thinks she was around 10. We wanted her microchip removed, but the emergency vet was not willing to do it. My OH buried Zoe in her favorite spot in the back garden, wrapped in a couple of her favorite jumpers that she would wrap herself in and we put some doggie biscuits in with her. I miss you so much Zoe R.I.P Zoe

Oh, Alison I am so sorry, but remember she passed away peacefully in her sleep, the best way to go, all warm and snug, and loved, bless her.
RIP Zoe.

Alison
She will remain in your heart and close becaused you loved her so and did what was right - hard for you I understand I have just said goodbye to my horse who was with me for 29 years - but as responsible loving friends we have to do what is right.
Take comfort she will never be far from your side.

Thank you for your kind words!
It is just so hard. Although she was a small dog, and not noisy, as in not barking all the time, the house is empty and quiet, even with the other two dogs. I find that i have nothing to do. She was very much like a baby, always wanting attention and knowing how to get it. She is so missed!
