This might sound weird, do you believe that animals can come back as ghosts? Only I'm convinced I've seen my old horse, more than once, and a cat I lost years back.
Maybe I've been imagining it...

I hope so! If people return, why not animals? At my mums house where she's lived since a very small child, we had a labrador, who died of old age. When I grew up and moved away, each time I visited I heard the sound of our old dog walking into the conservatory. I'm convinced she came to say 'hello' to me. Alas, the conservatory has recently been replaced, but I'm hoping she'll keep popping in!

I'm sure they do. We lost a special cat to liver cancer. After she died we would often hear the sound of 'something jumping/falling into a box' Although there was nothing in the room, our lovely old cat always used to jump into carboard boxes to sleep!! Also recently, my husband was standing at the kitchen work surface and he turned to walk towards me and basically was tripped up by something. I saw it with my own eyes!! He said he felt he had bumped into our labrador Lily who was always in the wrong place and under your feet. She died unexpectedly a year ago - and she is never far away in our thoughts!xxx

Oh my gosh!! Saturday morning. Husband had got up out of bed and was down stairs. Both kids in their rooms. All quiet. I actually thought I heard panting like a dog!!! I asked my little girl later if she had been colouring in, as I reasoned maybe that was what it was, but she hadn't done any. It came from near the bottom of my bed! The previous night before going to sleep, I said out loud and in my head, please give me a sign your okay!
I'm sure it was Blackie and Foxy come to say 'We're alright'. Funny thing is, I feel a lot lighter hearted now, and feel I can go forward. I can also think of them without bursting into tears! Even though it has only been days, my hearts at peace now.

I believe they return, sobagirl has just proved it! I still hear my dog's collar jangle all the time, and sometimes I think I can feel her head resting on my lap when I eat my ceral in the morning. Although I have never heard or seen Auburn since, I still smell her, just the tinyest of smells at the most strange moments but its her. It always makes me smile. They are there, all of our animals peering down from Rainbow Bridge, just checking that the ones they love are all ok.

Hi All,
In my experience, (and I have some stories) I would have to say definitely yes. I think that animals appear to you to let you know that they are alright and to check on you. I do not practice any religion and I don't know why I have this gift either.
I do seem to have very strong feelings (even when someone hasn't told me anything and I occasionally pick things up and my first impression of people is never wrong, there have been times that I have chosen to ignore this feeling and been hurt) when I go somewhere where either a person or an animal has passed on.
I can sense when things aren't right with either people or animals and I pick up atmospheres of buildings and vibes from horses and my cats all of the time. I used to think that I was loopy and not talk about it, but it has become stronger as progressed through my twenties and I was recently told by a genuine medium that I have this ability without me saying a word to her- weird.
However, I know not everyone will believe me, which is fine. As I didn't believe it myself for ages. I do believe that anything is possible and to put it this way, we used to think the world was flat....
I think that your animals/relatives stop by every now and again, just to make sure that you are okay.
Nikki ;-)

I have seen on occasions my old cat who died 5yrs ago.....He died just before I moved house... and one day when I was in the bath in the new house* (also just after I'd got 2 kittens) I saw a black shape jump on to the closed toilet seat..... i believe that was Treacle, have seen him a few more times since then, though haven't seen him a while now....... he's probably pi**ed off that I've got more cats, knowing full well how he feels about other cats in his territory!!!
* I was so glad he came with me....

Oh definatly. We lost our lovely shetland stallion almost 2 months ago and he came back to tell me he was ok. And he is still round the yard, keeping an eye on all his friends and in his own little way will still do things to let me know he is there. We keep his feed bucket on the fence at his favourite spot in his field...and occassion i swear i'll see him stood there and if ever something is going wrong down the yard...he is there.
