This morning, just before 10am, my O/H's horse was PTS. He was one in a million - an ex-hunt hireling imported from Ireland for a young lass to event, but she found he was too strong for her and so was sold to Ian. He was Podges' pair bond for the last three years and the only horse able to keep the big boy in his place. This is the boys early this morning. I took it on my camera phone, so please excuse the quality. And this was the wonderful and beautiful 'Big Joe' - long may he run pain free over Rainbow Bridge.

Unfortunately, the tear in his palate was making it more and more difficult for him to eat and with two large swellings appearing within a week, we realised the good days were rapidly diminishing. Ian felt the kindest thing that he could do for Joe after all the years of loyalty that Joe had shown him was to let him retain his honour and dignity, and after all, between Joe and Podge, Joe was always the boss and would have wanted to have remained that way. A situation like this always comes down to personal decisions. Ian and I are happy that we have done the best as we saw fit for Joe and could have done no more. He will be sadly missed, but we are sure that he is amoungst friends. We would also like to thank our friend (and AC) Sam, for all of her help and support during this difficult time.
