It's with much sadness that I've just had to say Goodbye to my lovely GSD, Ayla. She was big, white and fluffy and 12 years old, but sadly, her arthritic hips got the better of her, and I had to have her put to sleep this evening to save her suffering.
Even if you know you're doing the right thing, it is still heartbreaking to say that final farewell.
I gave her a home when she was 10 months old and needed a doggy home who would understand her (she had been mistreated), and I loved her dearly.
Goodbye my wonderful German Shepherd, I'll see you at Rainbow Bridge along with the Labradors.

Hi Jennyf. really sad to hear your news. This is such a wonderful site to be able to share your feelings regarding your beautiful GSD friend. Trouble is you think that these lovely companions are going to be there throughout your life but the sad reality is that their life time is in general much less compared to ours. You gave her a chance and she shared her life with you - what a magic combination that is. Hugs!xx

Sorry for the late reply. I've just got back from my TTOUCH course. It helped with the loss just having something else to take my mind of things.
Thank you all for your wonderful, kind and thoughtful words - they have helped lots.
I only got home on Tuesday, and the house is so bare without her. She was such a big hairbag and all the places she used to sleep look so empty. I still have my little Jack Russell x Llasa Apso and she is doing her best to cheer me up.
Once again, thank you all so much.
