Well, Lippizaners are born black... When Fire was registered they knew she was going to be grey, so it says that on her Arab horse docs. I think it's something to do with their skin colour. She was a fantastic colour as a 2 yr old, beautiful rose grey. I think the bay horse in the picture deserves a mention as he's looking so handsome! He's Toby, my Blue Cross "project" who gave me so much heartache and good times. He's in a retirement home because his behaviour problems were eventually just too much to overcome. Best liberty horse in the world though was Toby! All that flash stuff you see at Parelli demos? Toby in his element and very willing with it.

Both my two greys were born chestnut - Shefali was a very dark chestnut and stayed really dark until she was about 4, while her daughter Rasheeka was born slightly brighter chestnut and was paler than her mother by the time she was 2! She's now 4 - I'll have to post some pics of her but she's nothing like as stunning as Fire. Shefali is now going flea bitten and will probably look chestnut again in a few years, she's getting so many chestnut spots

Kas: Yep Fawn is fleabitten all over. Oddly enough her son was born a bay and stayed a bay. Here is a picture of her grandson that has the same father as her son. (Just so you know how this works out, her daugher who is the mother of this horse has a different father than Fawn's son. So there is no interbreeding don't worry.)

Wow, he's lovely! I was told that fleabitten grey is quite a "desirable" colour in the Arab world, and wondered if Fire was going to go that way. I'm quite pleased she's going to end up white though, although I never really wanted a grey horse... I really, really wanted a black Arab. The price of the good ones was just a TINY bit beyond my reach

My girl was born very black as she is out of a black/bay mare, then I think she went bay then the iron grey she is now (she is getting lighter everyday!) her dad was pure white.
Kas she is by Eldor out of SFA Passionata.

Amazing colour changes, and really lovely horses. My chestnut mare was a chestnut at 4 months when i first saw her, and is till chestnut at 6 years. she just goes a bit redder in the winter.
