Dear All,
So as you do not appear on this site as another crime statistic, PLEASE consider having your horse freeze branded, your tack post coded, your rug post coded, your trailer and lorry security marked. Crime prevention is the answer to beating the thieves. Put it on your list of things to do for the new year.
How many more posts are there going to be about stolen equipment that is untraceable? Help the Police to help you by making your kit identifiable, at least it gives them a chance to find an owner if it is recovered!
Happy Christmas and don't give the thieves a chance to ruin yours.
The Old (and very weary) Grey Mare.

I hear what you are saying Old Grey Mare - BUT what about those of us who did have their trailer security marked etc and it still got nicked! And people whose tack is postcoded but it still goes. There are lots of people who don't bother, I agree 100% with you, but don't tar us all with the same brush!

Caspar, not doing any tarring here! The message is that if you have your kit marked, at least you have some chance of getting it back. Unmarked, and the chances are practically zilch!

Absolutely - thieves will still keep nicking when/wherever they can, but: Why do some people STILL keep their tack & other property (unmarked) at a yard, where the gits know they have at least 12 hours to get in there & clear everything out before anyone even finds out? Why do people still buy stuff at boot sales & from sites where there can be no evidence that the item are not previously stolen? There is so much we can all do to help ourselves & each other, but getting the majority of folk to put a post-code on a rug is impossible.......... oh, erm, & I WILL get mine done soon!!! Happy New Year to everyone (apart from thieving gits that is!!)
