I noticed that when you click on the DG and get the front page, there are icons down the left hand side next to each category... now some are brown and some are grey so I thought Horse Help must be brown etc... but I've noticed that they change!
Does anyone know why? or what it means?

grey horse heads signal there is unread topics in that sub forum
brown horse heads indiciate all threads have been read/viewed
so they change colour to alert you of new posts
