Been a very sad day, had to have Harry put down this morning, feel totally at a loss. He hadn't been well the last few weeks with an infection and vet also found pre cancerous tumors. He just couldn't seem to get over the infection and in the end just felt it was best for him not to put him through any more treatment. It has certainly been a journey with him and he presented me with many challenges over the years, but it was all worth it. Not sure what I'm going to do at 4 o'clock when I usually go down and feed him

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, I remember being inspired by your journey with Harry, you did a fantastic job with him somehow doesn't seem right. I think you were fantastic with Harry is more what I mean.

So sorry to read your news, he will leave a big hole in your life. Well done for making the decision to pts. This is the hard part of owning animals, on one hand it's good to be able to put a stop to their suffering, but it's hard to make that decision even though you know it's for the best.
Thinking of you.

Thanks guys, your kind words mean a lot to me. Been very difficult the last few days Laura and I went down to start clearing everything out and it felt very wrong going down the field and no Harry

I haven't been on here for ages, sadly lured away by FB, but have just seen your sad news, hislordshipsmum. And I'm so sorry, the gorgeous Harry was always one of my favourite DG horses, being just my type of cob, love him.
He was such a fortunate chap to have had you in his life, and I was always so impressed with the work you did with him and the way you coped with all your ups and downs.
What a huge Harry shaped hole in your life now, my heart goes out to you. Easily the worst aspect of owning and loving animals, and the price we all inevitably have to pay for all the joy and fun and love they bring us. All the very best from me. xx

Still can't believe he's gone, so hard. Went to ride a friend's pony Moo the other day, got so emotional and had a cry into Moo's mane Then yesterday I was peeling some carrots and went to put the peelings in his bucket of food, but of course no bucket. When I drive pass the field I automatically look across. I think this time it's harder as I haven't got another horse to carry on with and I know that I won't be getting another - so a very big whole in my life. I know friends are happy for me to ride/help with their horses but it's not the same as having your own. He was such a character and I learnt more from him than all my other horses put together miss him so much.
