Hey Jennifer - looking forward to meeting you in person too! Counting the days... I just can't wait! Hey Veronica, thanks for the kind words!
So, a bit about me and my motivation for the course.
I am a 38year old German and have been fascinated with Monty's methods for years now. I am a weekend rider and for a long while I was carriage driving at a friend's place who owns a small herd of Holsteiner horses. He used to breed horses, ride and participate in driving competitions but by the time I started there he only went out for a drive on Saturdays. The horses spent the rest of the time outside in a wide field. During summer, when they also spent the nights outside, we had to catch two of them on Saturday morning, which became increasingly difficult (they just ran off) and even dangerous for both sides (chasing a horse among a herd in a small paddock). I had some success with arriving an hour early and approaching the horses calmly but if I hadn't caught them by the time the others arrived, the chasing would begin anew.
Looking for a solution I attended a weekend introduction course about 6 years ago by Anna Kerckhoff de Sacchi (she is German but now lives in Portugal). When I couldn't finish the course due to health issues, Anna came out to my friend's stables and we practiced join-up with three of the horses. It was a magical experience!
Anyway, I got pregnant soon after and only went to my friend's place for a visit every now and then. Now my two kids are a bit older and I am taking riding lessons again. I heard from my friends that the "catch horse" situation is now as bad as ever and I would like to help. As I am also between jobs at the moment it seems the perfect moment!
What about you?

Hi Conny & Veronica!
Conny, It was really interesting reading all about you!! Really looking forward to meeting you! I think your going to love this course! Veronica, I did my horse psychology weekend May 99! Like you it only seems like yesterday!! So, a bit about myself - I'm 36 years old. I worked in racing when I left school for 5 1/2 years. I'm now a owner of 2 wonderful horses (well 1.5 - will explain) first there's my delightful 19 years young pint sized (14.1hh) polish Arab gelding called Tsar, who I unashamably worship the ground he walks on!! I've had Tsar for 11 years & he is my own rehabilitation horse. He was in the 'last chance saloon' when I found him as he had a number of behavioural issue's. He was one of the most unconfident & suspisous horses I've ever met. But using all the Monty Roberts concepts & methods to help re-train him, he's now one of the most amiable, relaxed horses you'll ever meet! So all credit to Mr Roberts & his concepts for Tsar's transformation! I've done a few novice endurance rides with him over the years, but now I solely indulge in mine (&Tsar's) favorite thing & that is all the liberty/freestyle work (working with no tack on), horse agility (though we only do it for fun at home) & free riding (no tack) Even now it still amazes me to the core how this little horse let's me ride him with just a light rope around his neck, yet this very horse was branded dangerous & 'should be shot' when I first had him. My other 'little chap' is Mower, my very likeable, fun loving, full of his own importance Shetland! (Hence the .5!) He's Tsar's personal companion as one of Tsar's issue's was major separation anxiety. With the help of mower over the years Tsar can be left on his own now. So little Mo has been a star!He also does liberty/freestyle work & horse agility plus i long rein him around the lanes just to keep his weight in check! I will upload some pictures of my 2 endearing ponies so you can both have a look. So, only 5 days to go! Counting the days down! Jen :-)

your both be regreating that you spoke to me I am a long long long story, :)so I wont bore you all with too much. So in short,I had my very first horse Zulu, over 20 years ago, no experince of horses before that. I fell into the wrong hands for experince, had a bad experince and lost my confidence in riding and my horse. got my confidence back in my horse but not riding. so was going to lock myself away from the horsey world with my horse. but Fate had it with where I lived that a tiny wild unhandled orphane foal came into our garden looking for help and a home. I needed help with him but didn't trust anyone to help, scared it would be bad help, until I read something one day,and it struck a cord with me ,it was monty and kelly marks. I just knew that was the right help,so I contected Kelly by e mail asking for help and the rest is history. The history if you watch video your see how skitish he was,its as far as I could touch him,I had no stable for him,so made it out of a trailer.I didn't know I was doing anything good there. I should have put him in with zulu but I was scared she hurt him,so silly me, mother him like a human baby,he learnt our language instead of horsey language we didn't know what we were doing. with no experince at all in how to handle a wild foal we gave him a home, but I fed him from my hand, the wrong thing to do, thats as far as I could get near him, and he started to rear and box us,then chase us. Kelly came to our rescue and that of ollies, that changed my life, and I will always be grateful for. ollie was compleatly wild, and lice bitten,we couldn't get near him to put a head collar on him. he went into a trailer to the demo with no head collar on nothing. this is a small clip that changed ollies and my life. 16 years ago he died last year.

Hi Veronica! Hi Conny!
Absolutely loved reading about you Veronica & watching the videos you uploaded of sweet enchanting Ollie! I'm so sorry he's no longer with you :-( So how many horses do you have now? Also where abouts are you in the uk? & don't be silly I will never get bored with you guys posting stuff to me! You asked how I do the liberty/freestyle work? Its just an exaggeration of join up really Veronica. Work in an enclosed area such as a school or partition off part of a field with electric tape ( as I do) & you start doing some rope circling exercises with the horse on a long line. Learn the horse to change direction, stop, back up, trot, canter, sideways movements. Then slowly as horse becomes accustomed to your body language - for example extend your left arm out to the left & 'point' & the horse circles left, extend right arm out to the right & 'point & horse circles right - you can start to develop the work off line until the horse is totally free! Have you seen John François Pignon? Goggle him....He's fascinating! also on YouTube.....Conny you maybe interested in this as well - type in 'The Path Of The Horse' its well worth a watch. Its a 1 hour documentary & not only is it very interesting, its very very thought provoking!!! Watch & enjoy! :-) 4 more days to go Conny!! Getting more excited! Been practicing throwing the lunge line for join up, as I haven't done it for a while!!
Jen :-)

Hi Jen, Hi Veronica,
just a quick note as I am knee deep in my preperations for next week - not only packing my things but doing the grocery shopping, go to the library, do the laundry and make sure the hubby and the kids have an easy and joyful week even though mum is not there and dad has to go to work. My husband is great - in general and with the kids (3 and 5 yrs old), but the little ones are already acting differently, knowing I will be gone for a week. Yesterday I was practicing line throwing with my kids as target, we had so much fun :-)
It has been very interesting reading your posts and watching the videos. Veronica, I am sorry to read about ollie. He must have been an exceptional little horse and you really made a difference in his life! Jen, I haven't had a chance to google Pignon yet but will do so as soon as possible. I will be leaving on Sunday morning from Hamburg, Germany, flying to Heathrow and then taking the bus to Oxford and Witney. Quite a journey but will give me time to re-read parts of Monty's and Kelly's books.
Veronica, thanks again for your story and the videos!
Jen, I'll see you in 3 days!!!!

Hi Conny & Veronica!
Sorry there was no communication yesterday, I had a really busy day. Not long now Conny - 2 days to go!! Blimey you have quite a trip ahead of you! But I'm sure it's all going to be worth it! Really looking forward to meeting you! This weekend I'm going to be busy getting everything ready for the week ahead, including putting everything ready with my 2 ponies as my 2 'personal grooms' - who are my wonderful parents are taking the reins whilst I'm away. I'm really hoping they behave...the ponies that is! LOL! Especially Mower my Shetland as he's the Houdini of the equine world & always tries to escape from his paddock in search of lush grass! Veronica, guess what!? I live in South Wales near chepstow! What part of Wales are you based? Jen :-)
