Was so very sorry to hear about Ally, a source of strength and encouragement to us all. She will be remembered as Nikki in Italy for me, a lifelong DG member. May she RIP.

I am shocked and devastated to hear this news. I had no idea AllyS had been fighting cancer and so bravely. Ally will be missed by so many and certainly me, she was always a huge support to me and I am sure many, many others and I think managed the ups and downs of the DG superbly. I will always remember and be wrapped in the memory of the warmth of her kindness and wisdom.
My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

I didn't know Ally but hope all of us in fags have given her some laughs as she's had to trawl through endless drivel and mockery. RIP Ally x

That's such a beautiful post from the moderators.
I met Ally around 15 years ago, when she'd just done her IH foundation course. She was going out with the brother of one of my friends and we were put in touch because I was having problems catching my Section D. Ally wasn't sure if she could help, but said she would give it a go anyway. As if! I always remember us laughing over the story of my first solo catching effort after she'd gone home. I was so prepared for a long morning that I took a knapsack into the field with me, containing everything I might need... including tampons! Well, it was a country location and there were hedges available! Of course, I then caught him in no time at all, thanks to Ally's help. I think this kind of interaction was probably quite typical between Ally and her friends, as her humour helped us to see the absurdity where it existed, and to lighten situations we might have taken too seriously.
Ally also introduced me to the then very new 'old' DG, which I seem to remember having only 2-3 pages of posts at the time. I've re-registered just to post this.
I am so, so saddened at the news of her passing. My heart truly goes out to the friends and family who are also 'sad' and will remain so for some time, I think, even while celebrating her glorious life.

I'm sorry to say that although I remember the name, I don't remember any of her posts. I am sad to hear of yet another cancer death, even though they say as many people are surviving cancer as not. I have my sympathy to Ally's family and the families of all cancer victims.

Very sad news. I remember meeting Ally at one of Kelly`s Garden Parties and followed her wonderful stories of Manny and Mattie for many years. Her knowledge and sensitivity always shone through, as did her sense of humour.
A very special horsewoman gone too soon. Along with dear Nikki Italy from the early years of the DG.
Sending my love and thoughts to her family, to Kelly and to those of you who knew Ally well. xx
