Awww thanks Janwilky, but I consider myself the lucky one as she is such a fantastic mare! I want to do everything I can to keep her fit and healthy and strong going in to her twenties. She wasn't too bad on last Sunday's ride, but when the sweat dries on her coat after a long ride, it's hard to get off even when washing her down - so a trace clip will make it that bit easier. However, that means thinking about rugs - ugh!!

I know... winter's coming . It's so warm at the moment, including at night, that I could get away with doing a little clip and not rugging. I often do that with Lucas anyway as he overheats very easily in warm autumn weather - he's so ludicrously hairy. I didn't clip him last year and regretted it when we had six months of mud and he ended up with clay sausages dangling from his long belly hairs - yeuch, please let us have a cold, dry winter!!
