As suspected Baffle has a headache and looks much much happier after his visit with Bruce. He actually looked happy to see him which I thought was lovely. What a clever horse he knows when something is good. He was much better after and is standing comfortably tonight. Bruce agreed that the fact he hasn't seen a dentist is likely a big cause of his headaches as he is like grinding his jaw wrong so the sooner I can get him used to syringes the better. I just don't want to undo the good work arghhhh

Why has Baffle suddenly become do manly? Poor Dets I'd not used to such behaviour but blimey he was feeling well tonight they all went bombing around the field tonight and Mr Baffle was reading and tiggering all over the shop hope he hadn't done him self an injury. Training for wormer going ok except he is not keen on honey or apple sauce or golden syrup so I think I will try baby good in carrot flavour lol. Can I mush up digestives into a paste with something as he LOVES digestives.

Today I rode him not just sat and walked a couple of steps but actually off lead rein (lol) and on our own. With a bit of our usual help from my helper she got on Dets and I got on Baffle and we went for a poodle around the two paddocks with Dets as our lead. He almost offered a trot but I didn't let him. He is BRILLIANT he holds his head lovely and stops from my voice and then he gets a treat from his back. He gets a bit 'oi mom feed me' but instead of feeding him I ask him to walk two strides then halt then treat. We walked around yard first and got the turning and stop before opening gate and walking round paddock and back then dismount thrn start again. He seems happy for Dets to take the lead and intact they were mates again after we finished do I think it helped them re bond again after these past few days of them not getting on. So ne t we will be working in getting out and about...... im sorry no pics we were both too excited to remember.

Hope I haven't missed this, but have you tried yoghurt for the wormer? Before I got Morgan he had a virus, and she gave him antibiotics mixed into yoghurt. Worked great, and he now doesn't mind syringes! x

I apologise if what I am saying is out of place - I have seen your posts about Baffle but I do not know his history or how long he's been with you etc.
If his teeth have never been done, they are probably quite sore. If his mouth is sore, he is less likely to let you touch it. In this case, is it not worth getting a vet to sedate him to allow your dentist to sort his mouth out as a priority. Once it isn't sore anymore, then begin desensitisation work for follow up routine treatments.
If pain or discomfort is involved, advance and retreat will never be truly successful.
Bad teeth could also be a cause of tension in the poll and headaches which will only come back again if his teeth aren't sorted and I wouldn't be expecting him to be happy being ridden if his teeth have not been sorted.

It's ok clipclop I understand the concern. Vet can't get near him with needle ( one other problem) I wouldn't dream of putting a bit in his mouth. He is eating fine and is happy to be snuggled all around his mouth nose and head so long as your not holding an item of any kind i.e a rasp a needle or syringe. We are getting there. I actually waved a stick st hin today and he just quietly moved away when before he would have belted off at hundred miles an hour. The session I was hoping for was another reason for the syringe training do he can have a good dose of something which may be enough to do the work or help vet get a needle to him if needs be. Does that make sense? As with most of my beasts I seem to pick them it's a long haul. Also whilst riding it's in headcollar and he turns from open loose rein with leg. He holds his head lovely with no tension so far and halts from voice to. I wasn't planning on long hacks out or Nothing that won't be for awhile it was just a bit of fun as he seems to be enjoying himself At last.
