The bugger didn't turn up Now that is frustrating! It gets better, after he failed to show and didn't get in touch I messaged and explained I'd be relisting and why, he's now been sending snotty messages and threatening me with negative feedback and reporting me to ebay.

I don't use eBay so can't talk from personal experience. However, a friend of mine does, and tells me that eBay normally finds in favour of the buyer in disputes. I also hear that there isn't really a good facility for sellers to respond to negative feedback, to explain their reasons for doing what they did and to give their side of the story. I have heard that there is a page (I believe it's on Facebook) where sellers can tell their side and warn other sellers of potential troublemakers and dodgy buyers. Again, I can't talk from experience, but would something like this be helpful?

To be fair as a seller I'd probably have given him a second chance to collect. If he failed to turn up, instead of texting him I'd just open a case for non payment. I can't help but think by messaging him telling him you're relisting it without speaking to him you walked into him being annoyed.
Once you've opened a case against him he won't be able to leave you negative feedback and if he doesn't respond by paying you either through paypal so ebay can monitor it, or in cash (then ebay will require you to confirm receipt of payment) then ebay will find in your favour and allow you to relist for free. If he doesn't respond they find in your favour.

Definitely go through ebay procedure to cancel transaction and relist otherwise he could claim the goods are legally his and you are not giving him the chance to complete the transaction. You need both sides to acknowledge the transaction is void.

I should have realised it would be trouble from the off, he asked about collecting, I said fine but you haven't paid but gave him two areas he could collect from, whichever was easier, he then asked for my address but no mention of payment, I messaged and said not sure if I'm looking in the right place but can't find a payment he then asked for address again no mention of payment, finally he stated he was paying cash on collection and he didn't use Paypal. He suggested two times, I could only be there for one of them which he then changed, I turned down a couple of hours cleaning to be certain I was in and he failed to arrive. TBH I think I'd rather chuck them in the bin than sell them to him now.
