I was lucky enough to go and watch Laura B at Addington Manor EC last night.
Did anyone else go ?
I thought it was a great demo, she brought three horses, a youngest they have breed themselves called Pammy who was green and hot, and it really gave you a good idea of how she schooled her through he worries and what she did to help her balance and carry herself even when stressed. A more advanced horse called Rufus who was lovely and of course I was treated to seeing the great Alf in the flesh.
He really is a stunning horse, with BAGS for personality and talent and he clearly LOVES his job!
What I loved most though was listens to Laura and her Dad talk about the horses and their physical needs in dressage. A lot was said about how you must allow them to rest in between work, giving their muscles time to work and relax and how you should put the horses fitness and ability first.
I really enjoyed it, and I have to say the love for Alf just shown from Laura who said she hopes to compete him for another season and made it clear that he owed her nothing and she must always tell him how wonderful he was when he still preformed for her, it actually gave me a lump in my throat. And for anyone that knows Alf's history they will know he has never been an easy horse for her, even at 18 he still tried to run off with her last night ;D
It was really nice to see some top UK talent, So just thought I would share.

That sounds like a great evening - I've always liked Laura B. - saw her on the Superstars programme early in January, and she was terrific. Came over as a really nice genuine sporty lass!
