Unfortunately I didn't see the programme. From the posts I've read the way the sick colt was handled was appalling. Sounds a very sad and unfortunate situation and handled very badly by 'authorities' all round. Can you get Channel4 on demand? www.channel4.com/programmes/the-horse-hoarder/4od

Thanks Catrin. I got all hopeful when it let me watch the adverts, but then it said... oops digital permission error or similar and went all blue.

I was touched by this program and thought that Clwyd seems to be doing his best for the horses, although he was massively overwhelmed with 52. What is sad is that he is largely ignored by the local community and living in appalling conditions, spending his pension on feed for his 'children'. He clearly has good handling skills and made the RSPCA rounding-up squad look daft. I don't know about Plan B - they didn't seem to have much of a clue about Plan A!! ;D Clwyd obviously felt that Michelle (the woman who was 'helping' him) was a surrogate daughter, after he had lost his own child due to a car accident. I felt that Michelle's motives for helping Clwyd were genuine, although she was somewhat patronising at times. I, too, was horrified by her 'taming' techniques with the little cob at her yard. Hopefully Clwyd and his horses will get the support they need and their lives will become easier. Lovely man with intelligence and wit. Awful circumstances There but for the grace of God...............................

Catrin I am one of seven my parents stayed together until the day my father died, and we all get on with each other!

I haven't seen it, but did record it so hope to watch it.
Have I got what it takes to become a horse hoarder? No way! I love my pony and would do anything for him, but enjoy having the time and money for other luxuries too, as selfush as that may sound.

It was something Michelle said when she went into his house along the lines of 'look at the conditions he lives in and everybody is worried about the horses'
That about sums it up for me, poor guy is living in awful squalor but nobody is looking after him.
I do agree that he had too many and I think he knew that. He did need intervention to help him let some go but not sure about the prosecution
