I have just spoken to a good friend on the phone and she has told me she's been making enquiries at a local trekking centre which has just been set up about getting me on a nice, steady horse for a ride over the Quantocks. I hacked out, usually by myself, several times a week for many years and have missed it all so much since I had to give up 6 or more years ago now.
I love the thought and so want to do it. I have to get a bit fitter ( and I truly feel rotten right now due to a bout of flu!!!) and thinner for my own peace of mind before I subject a poor horse to my less than fit bod on his back!
Keep me on track, friends and Dgers, please, as I am resuming my healthy eating diary online as soon as the Xmas chocs are disposed of!!

And about time too Liz You won't need keeping on track with the motivation of a lovely ride. Enjoy (MTA - I didn't mean the weight loss I meant getting out on a horse )

Did you see on the news this morning about a diet consisting of eat what you want every day except two (non consecutive) days a week on which you fast, or at least eat no more than 1/4 of your normal recommended calories? I used to fast for health reasons one day a week, and so long as you take plenty of fluids it is no bother. The doctor (not sure whether he was medical or Phd) lost several lbs and several % of body fat doing that for a few weeks. I might do it to get my BMI down a bit.

What a wonderful present, I hope you will take up the offer. As to loosing weight, I did a sponsored slim for charity at work a few years ago, which worked very well as it would have been too embarrassing not to succeed!

IMHO diets that you go on and off dont work, if you want to loose weight and keep it off then a change of lifestyle needs to be done and choose food that you will continue with not cutting out this or that for a few months as the weight will creep back on again. consider why you have put it on first, I am overweight myself I have done different diets which just dont work for me. I know why I have got so fat and I now have to deal with that first. My motivation is that I really want to ride again I have had my horse 10 yrs and can count how many times I have actually ridden him myself and its not a large number. Accept her offer its a goal to reach for...
