Why do they always have to need a vet on a sunday... i swear my little mare also only did it... to get out of doing a boring lead rein ride!
Flye had conjunitivitis a few weeks ago.. vet saw, treated, cleared up.
I'd had to clean her eye past few days but nothing huge and it was getting better..
Went and got her in for her ride this morning and noticed she had her eye closed and very watery eye streaming down her face.. Had a quick look but couldn't see anything, Brought her in (along with another to replace her on the ride! lol) and put her in stable whilst i tied up the others etc so she had 10 mins to settle before i had a good look..
Couldn't see an ulcer.. not very gunky.. very reluctant to open her eye and her pupil constricted.. vet time! lol Having had another who has had uvititis i could see it was that and i phoned vet and spoke to on call vet to find out if it could wait (doubtful thinking! lol) or not.. not was the answer.
Yup uvititis.. vet didn't think ulcer but stained to be sure and good thing we did check as she had the tiniest of ulcer's starting about the size of a pinhead! Vet thinks secondary to the uvititis though and possibly from her rubbing her poorly eye Hopefully caught it in time and will get better soon.. had drops to dilate the pupil, antibiotic drops and bute for a few days and vet gave her a bute injection.. couldn't give her steriod eyedrops though due to the ulcer.
She is feeling very sorry for herself which is quite unlike her as she is normally a little trooper so must be very sore Spent the day in the stable as vet said she has to stay in especially is sun is out due to the dilated pupil.. and i was going to leave her out in the lammi ponies paddock round the stables (don't want her out with the large herd if she feeling a bit under the weather) but as i was putting the other 2 in there stables... the heavens opened and she wanted to come back in.. so pampurred pony is tucked up in the stable tonight with them... again another sign she isn't herself as she lives out 24/7 and not a stable loving pony!
Vet said she could turnout with a 'eyepatch' on.. and said about ductape over a fly mask.. so i did that this evening so she could out whilst i mucked out.. just with the 2 old lammi/cushings ponies who are normally easy going.. but in her half blind state splash decided to take advantage of that and kept annoying her and sneaking up on the side she couldn't see on! brat! lol
My handy work of a makeshift eyepatch! lol
